Strange crash at FFVIII

Hey, I'm new here because nobody can help me on the "official" bords

The game crashes to the desktop on CD2 after the battle with Norg, when I have to enter the library to find the girl (her name is Elone in the german version).
This is completely senseless, because the girl is in the second room of the library and in the frist (where the game crashes) nothing happens. (Well, this is what I've heard from somebody)
I've tried to change my group, deleted all spells and items and played in the software mode. There were never problems before, I could enter the library as often I wanted.


I don't know what I should do now. I tried everything, installed the game on three pc, used several directx versions and installed the patch 1.2.

If you tried it on 3 different PC's than it sounds to me like your cd's are scratched and so every installation is defected. Well it would be best if someone would play your save to next savepoint probably.

It would be a great help, if someone could use my save and tell me if the same problem occurs.

Another solution may be a location trainer/editor for FF8. There is something like that for the FF7 but I haven't found everything like that for FF8. Does anybody know of such an editor/trainer?

If there is supposed to be a cutscene there, switch the movie quality to low. I can't remember if there was or not.

I had the same problem, and it is fixed by downloading the FFVIII 1.2 patch conviently found at http://aaronserv.dyndns.org/hosting/ffsf/patch.html

Doe anyone have the Configurator 2.2? I can only get 2.0.
