Have you downloaded the game or just a patch?
We don't support illegally downloaded copies of the game

Hi there

I see that this isn't incredibly out of date or anything and so here I post my problem. I have a DVD called Final Fantasy Ultimate Edition. On it, it has all the in game videos from FF1 through FFX-2 as well as the sound tracks for all of the games. Also, it has the spirits within video. In final, it has the full games of FF1 through FFVIII on it. It simple refuses to allow me to install FFVII. I also get a NT error although I am running XP pro...I am not really certain what the issue is other than it is saying that it isn't compatable with 16 bot something or another. MY other issue that is driving me crazy is the fact that it finally decided to let me run FFVIII and play it too. I haven't played FFVIII beyond ten minutes or so of the game before but now, I am hooked. I made it to the pint where some girl is dancing with Squall. Shortly after she looks over his should and starts to walk away from him, the game just crashes to the desktop with no error message or anything...I know there were patches for my Geforce card which I did apply but it still didnt work. After still not working I pulled the geforce card and am running on the 64 meg intel onboard adapter. However, this didn't fix the issue either...I am ready to sell the dvd to slave traders due to my frustration. However, ironic thing about that is that I recieved the disc in box as a present. However, the person that gave it to me died in a car crash about 6 months ago. After searching everywhere, I can't find it. Its almost as if the disc doesnt exist and I can't ask my friend where he got it...Ironic huh? But anyway, a solution is very much desired. Any help would be great. Thanks

A little googling tells me that's almost certainly an Asian counterfeit.  There's no official sales data whatsoever on it from anywhere (at least not in English.)  This means that there will probably be no support for it whatsoever from anywhere...and since it's a chimera, I'm not surprised it doesn't work well.  This kind of thing is usually faulty at its core.

And how does it clump all the differently formatted games onto the same disk, anyway?  Maybe someone here who knows about that disk could help, but given the number of results I got in Google from it (very few!) I doubt if anyone here's even heard about it.  There's no way it's an actually licensed product.  You're gonna have to describe that thing a lot better, and even then I dunno what we could do.

This is not a legitimate copy of the game, so we will not be able to provide support.  Chances are these problems are caused because whoever made this DVD did a crappy job, anyway.

I was starting to think the same thing considering that I wasn't able to find any information on it at all. So far I have turned up nothing actually. However reading some of the other threads I have decided that you are probably right. The closest thing that I can connect it to seems to be the Final Fantasy Ultima Edition...I know that this is for sure not what I have. I'll actually take some pictures in a few mins to show you what I am unsuccessfully working with. None the matter, it's a neat disc. But thanks for the try. Is there by any chance I can pull the save file from the hdd and then post it here to have someone move to the next save point for me or no?

Here are the pictures and screenshots that I have taken of the disc. As said above, if in fact this is a "fake" disc, then they did a really good job in making it look good. It even came in a FF collectors Tin. Oh well.
(I reduced the image size by 50% as I didn't think it would be a good idea to post screenshots that were of 1280x1024 resolution)

Full Disc Image
Disc Title Image
Yuna on Disc Cover
Root Folder
This is where the FFVIII installation is

Final Fantasy Main Folder
This is where the FFVII installation is

Final Fantasy 1-6
This is where FF1-6 is at as well as a SNES emulator to
play them (this is what originally got me to thinking this was a conterfieght production)

Final Fantasy In game Videos
Final Fantasy Soundtracks
Spirits Within

My Save File

If someone could play this to the next save point I would much appreciate it. I know that it said that you do not support "hacked" games and all but I was not aware of this copy being as such until now. However, I am still not 100% convinced that it is...Though it is in english, I think the disc originated from china as that is what launguage 1-6 is in.

I have learned a lesson on eBay.  Wanna know what it is?

...Anything Final Fantasy that comes out of China is fake.  Virtually without exception.  And swords?  Forget it.  All counterfeited.

And also...as far as I know, it's illegal to distribute ROMs for other systems for retail under any circumstances.  They wouldn't do it.

You may not realize it, but China is one of the major counterfeiting hubs of the world.  And it's what they do for a living.  Sure, it might be cheap, and shiny....but it's not real, either.

That's definitely not an official release. ZSNES is on it? Why would Square-Enix support that?

You paid money for this? Then you've been had.

No, I didn't pay for it. It was given to me by a freind who is actually now dead...Yeah...so ok...we have come to agree that it is indeed a fake. Anyone have an actual retail version of the game installed that can move me to the next save point or should I try to hunt down an actual copy for PS as well as an old PS one so that I am sure not to have any problems? Usually I dont spend a lot of time on any older games but this really is drawing me in. I am actually putting FFXI on standby until I get this game worked out...

Honestly....
Your best option is probably to buy a Playstation 2 and get the Playstation version of the game and a Playstation memory card (can't save PS1 games on a PS2 card). There are tons of games like Final Fantasy, that can be played on the Playstation 2. Two of my favorites are Shadow Hearts: Covenant and Suikoden 3. Xenogears, Xenosaga, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean....I can pretty much make a list of over a hundred titles.

I think you're just going to run into one problem into another, trying to get your copy working with your PC. Just Frame the disk in memory of your Friend, or something, and buy a PS2.

Someone may playthru for you...but, I have a feeling that it's just going to lead to another hang-up. BTW: such crashes on FF8 usually means the disk is corrupt.

These days we can buy printers that can put images straight on the CD instead of stickers rather cheap, so it's getting really hard to know if it's real or not.
