I hope this is okay to ask here.

I've spent several hours today looking for info on how to do this.
And I think it's starting to drive me crazy... I've done soooo many searches on this site and on google.

I followed directions from thread:  http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=4165&highlight=opening

But when I started a new game I got a green screen (no movie) with my tech demo audio playing.

I really want to replace my opening to FF7 with the tech demo. (and I'd like to replace other FMVs with newer ones like sephiroth turning and walking into the fire, I'd like to replace that with a portion of the Advent Children trailer.)

I could really use help.

Please... if there is a thread that addresses my problem, please send me a private message and remove my thread.

BTW, my fmvs play fine. But trying to replace them gives me a green screen with full audio when following tutorial: http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=4165&highlight=opening

Really wanna tweak. ^___^

Thankyou for reading.

What compression method did you use (which codec)?

NO compression

I did no compression.

The author of the tutorial claimed "I've chosen not to compress it".

Do you recommend compressing it?

I am using Virtual Dub and I applied:
colour depth to 16bit input and output
 resize filter 320*224

Do you recommend a differnt program?

Has there been any other success in replacing FMV's in FF7?

Thankyou for reading. ^_^

Install fddshow. It will probably solve the problem. Personaly, I use the videos of the PS version compressed in divx 3. I've heard of people using videos compressed with X-vid, but I had no succes when I tried it (looong ago).

FDDSHOW?

I could not find a "fddshow", but I did find "ffdshow".

If fddshow does exist where can I get it. Every time I look for it I end up getting a download titled "ffd" instead.

Now, I tried FFDShow and the green screen is still there.

I tried compressing my file as a divx3 as well. And still, there is  audio playing perfectlyand a green screen with instead of the video.

Next I will try X-vid.
X-vid has also not solved the green screen issue.

Although it was cute when the the characters apeared on green screen for a short time (then normal game), I really want to make this work.

Thankyou.

Anyone else have some advice?

::EDITED::

Hey! I got the movie to work... mostly...

After following "http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=4165&highlight=opening"
I added these steps and it works for me now:

INSIDE VIRTUAL DUB

♥1st ♥ I  compressed the Video with FOURCC code 'div4'

♥2nd♥ I clicked on CONFIGURE and changed options Keyframe every from "10"seconds to "1" seconds.

And now it works fine only it is  upside down.

Now I used upside down patch. Its fine now.

Now the movie slows down way too much.

Attempting to go back to "10" seconds...

Going back made me return to green screen

sigh.

what are the most common and simple ways to replace fmvs with anything that did not come from the games? (like a bunny hopping or what ever!??? )
