Freeze after Bronco
« on: 2006-03-24 06:15:24 »
I read the FAQ but I'm pretty sure this q wasn't answered, or the suggested solution didn't work... I'm having a problem whenever i beat Palmer and take off on the Brinco, just after Cid makes a comment about pissing myself, it goes to cut to the next part and the music freezes for a second then picks up again, but i get an illegal operation message and the game crashes. I've tried everything that someone of my level of computer literacy can, involving, re-install, movies from hard drive, patches, and punching my screen, none of which have worked. I'm running windows xp, I'm just wondering if any of you out there can help me at all? It would be much appreciated...

I also got a problem similar to this. My game freezes right after you take off. I have no idea what's going on.

Something that I send to people who are asking for solution, not a play-through:
Quote from: I
There is a way to bypass that FMV. However, it requires switching movies OFF (just for the part you want to play through without crash). Steps to be followed:
    * Download (
http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?p=66838#66838 )and install:
o gypt - used to skip movies, info here:
http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?p=68646#68646
o yamp - the installer[/list:u]    * Install gypt and check if the installation was successful - info here: http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?p=70496#70496 (you can try and skip the intro movie to be sure that you know how to use gypt)
* Change the movie-path to a non-existing one, info about changing the path here: http://www.ff7-universe.com/Downloads/FF7Movietweak.txt (doc by EmperorSteele)
* Just play and keep pressing Ctrl+S to skip FMVs (you'd know there is one if the screen turns black)
* Press Ctrl+S again and then Ctrl+D if the screen remains black
* After skipping the corrupted FMV you can save your game and change the movie-path to the one used before
* Post back if it helped you or not[/list:u]
It's a direct copy so there could be a mistake. The friend which was so kind to test this solution for me is Tw1tch from Qhimm's, so kudos go to him.

Of course replacing the corrupted movie will do the same thing - this solution just doesn't require copying FMVs to HDD.

Oh, and one more thing. I'm not offering a play-through, becase I'll be go going home in 2 hours <-> no internet, no response (yay, holidays :)).

It doesn't seem to be working. I get this in the debug and I don't know what it means:

There is a bug in a patcher which can cause some errors. You can send me your save-game now. I'm online again :P
