Mod question.
« on: 2006-04-25 13:45:50 »
Hello.

I'm new here, and I don't know anything about how to create mods, so hopefully I won't sound too stupid, but anyway, I have a couple of questions I hope to get answered.

First of all, is there any way to create a party of less than three persons? I have resently started playing tha game again, and I decided to only use Cloud, Tifa and Yuffi during this playthrough, and it irritate me that I'm forced to have people in my party that always lies dead on the battle field. is this possible, or is there any mods for this? if not, would it be possible to create a mod like this?

Secondly, is it possible to make it so that the person that is at the top of you're party list is the one shown on the field map? Meaning that if the party consists of Tifa, Cloud and Barret, then Tifa is shown on the Field map, but if the Party consists of Barret, Tifa and Cloud, then Barret is shown on the field map.

As far as I know neither of these items is possible except through mods, and as far as I know no mod that does either of these exists.

I'm not sure if it is possible to actually make a mod that does any of this, but if it is possible, then I would love it if someone would make these mods.

You know, the second idea is nothing new. In the former FF episode was already so...More: each character had its own colour for sleeping tent!  8)

nice idea indead but ... how could it be done ?? I mean you will surly have to modify the program for this ... but if anyone is able to do it I could make you some models in the world map file 'cause in the world map you will only have Cloud, Tifa and Cid there is no other playble models in this file but ... well I've changed this files yet so I'll be able to add all the playble character in it if someone is able to change the game so you will chose the models to use in the field and in the world map

well see you .. hope somone will be able to do it 'cause it'd be great hehe

Yeah, I noticed that :) While searching for other chars I even controlled the RocketTown's... Rocket (I think it was it :P). While it is easy to make ff7 pick some other object, I have no clue how to insert AND use new one...

...but it can't be too hard, right?  :D

Steve Jr: try with LGP tools you select the tex file you want and right click and select remplace ... select your .bmp file and then save the lgp .. it's the only way to make tex files work with the char.lgp so I think it will work with the battle.lgp as well

by the way by modifing the .lgp I can controle whoever I want if they have the same number of bones but to change it ingame I don't know how to do it...

well... that's a little complex to explain in a forum ... if there is white spots it's because of 2 possible reasons ....

1 - the game do not find the tex file ... maybe the name is not exacly the same

2 - the tex file is not a valid one ... if you made you tex file with another methode than with lgp tools it is most likely this reason

what I can tell you is that if there is white spots it's the sign that your tex files hasn't been loaded on the model so ... well ... I don't know exactly how the battle.lgp work but I don't think it's quite defferent than the char.lgp ... I make some test on it and will come back with how to do it.

see you

okey Steve Jr I got a modified tex file to work in the battle ... well you were right the methode I was using with the char.lgp do not make valid tex file in the battle.lgp... I'll try to explain to you but it's a little more complex than with the char.lgp

1-copy your char.lgp somewhere

2-open the copy of the char.lgp with LGP Tools

3-select any tex file in this .lgp, right click on it and select remplace and then select your BMP file

4-once done right click on this .tex file again and click extract and chose a location

5-open the extracted file with a hexadecimal editor and change the 8th byte to "01" (it's the trancparency byte .. so if you don't do it your gonna have black where it's suppose to be transparant)

6-open the battle.lgp with LGP Tools and select the tex file you wanna modify

7- right click and click remplace and select the tex file you modified with your hexadecimal

and then your are supose to have a valid tex file .... it worked for me so if you do it right it's supose to work lol

well hope this will work give me news about it

see you
