Which is the best Final Fantasy Soundtrack
« on: 2001-10-23 12:47:00 »
Hi to all Final Fantasy Fans out there. Can you help me? I wanted to buy a Final Fantasy soundtrack. The problem is, here in Germany you can hardly get them and even if you find one it is very expensive. Now I've found someone who sells the FF7 FF8 and FF9 soundtrack. I can only afford one because I'm 15 years old and don't get so much pocket money. I played FF7 and FF8 and they were great and the music ruled. I didn't play FF9 so far because I don't have a playstation and I'am not going to buy one only because of FF9. What do you think which soundtrack is the best and worth buying? Which ones do you own? FF7 FF8 or FF9? Hope you can help me decide. Thanks.

Oh and can we perhaps exchange mp3s? I really can't buy more than one album.

I've got the FF9 OST, but the FF7 soundtrack's my personal favourite. FF8's got a couple of good songs, but most of them are kinda tinny. If I were you, I'd get the FF7 one, then save up for the other two later on, just ask your friend to keep them by for you. OR, go and download Morpheus. Search for ff7 in audio and queue all the FF7 songs you can find (which will probably be all of them), try to search for songs seperatly, like type in 'ff7 aeris theme piano' to get more results for that song. Then download all the highest quality ones and burn them to CD. Of course, if you've got a slow connection that'll take ages, and will cost a bomb if you have to pay a lot for your internet connection. But if everything's fine then I'd advise you to leave it running over night.

I have a T-DSL flatrate meaning my connection is very fast and it only costs 49 DM per month and it doesn't matter how long I surf. I use winmx to share my mp3s and download from others. It's not the problem that I can't get those mp3s but I don't want to. I want to buy one of the albums because I love Final Fantasy and its music. I only want to hear your opinions. The FF7 soundtrack is good but it's a little old, I mean, it doesn't sound so good even from the cd, or? The music greatly improved from FF7 over FF8 to FF9 (technical). I want to know, if they improved "musically" too (don't know how to say). I never listened to the FF9 soundtrack before but I heard it should be better than FF7 and 8. What experiences did you made with those soundtracks?

Well, it depends on what you like most. Personally, I like FF8 OST because the music really makes you feel like you're in the game. FF9 has lots of tracks in those 4 CDs so if you want a bargain try FF9. I'm not sure about FF7.

I have MP3s of all of 7, some of 8 and two of 9.

Out of those, my personal favorite would probably be 8. It has a certain style where every piece has a place, and that place just calls to you. On the other hand, it's also hard to be inspired by 8, because a lot of the music is very specific, with specified desires from the listener.

If I had the choice of any FF game, without a doubt, it would be FF6. Despite the simple SNES musical tones, the music itself is enchanting. If you can buy only one, make it FF6! (FYI: FF6 was released as FF3 in America.)

mhhhh  First: I didn't play FF6 yet, it wasn't released in germany (like so much other good things

What I know till now: FF7: Good songs, not so good quality, memorable
FF8: Very fast and good songs like "the man with the machine gun" or "the landing" but not so memorable
FF9: ? How is the music like? FF7? Are there much memorable tracks? Tell me!

(sorry when I made mistakes but my english is not so good, I'm 15)

My preference is the FF8 soundtrack. I love the Laguna battle music... oh and the music played at the Dollett mission (The Landing I think) is brill! But I also love Aeris' theme music on FF7. Didn't realy like the FF9 music although bits were fab!

I would go with the FFVII Ost myself. VIII's one isnt bad but I think VII's is much better. Thats just my 2 cents though...

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I didn't get the Final Fantasy soundtrack. It was an auction, you must know, and someone bid up to 135 DM for the FF8 soundtrack (the other ones were as expensive as that one too)! Thats too much for a used soundtrack, I think. And , it's too expensive. But hey, I'll wait for the next auctions  I'll get it, and if it takes some time...
