Yay for me!
« on: 2006-12-12 18:05:59 »
I ordered a new videocard, a Asus EN7600GS Silent (just a heat-spreader, handy for later overclock ). It's a great card, it really is, I was doubting between a 7900GS or a 7600GS but the 7900GS isn't THAT much better.. and Buy getting a 7600GS I could get a DVD-ReWriter and 512 more ram :P

it's for x-mas from my parents <3
I just love christmas (only for the presents and the 'jolly' family-time, not the holy stuff attached to it).

Hey I also got a 7600GS 512MB version with a heatspreader, but I think mines was from Abit.
Yea, they are alittle bit underpowered compared to the 7800/7900 because they have less Pixel Pipelines and possible less Vertex Shaders etc.
They also have a lower Core and Memory Clock speeds, but because of it being without a fan you cannot overclock it much (say 50Mhz) or you will crash the system.
If you want to overclock I suggest installing a fan over the top or side of the card or even go for water cooling.

But you could always get another one and go for SLi (if you got the PCi Express version.)!

Yeah i have the pci-e version and the overclock is well possible if I put a fan on the spreader as you said.
I saw a overclock review on that card somewhere (i'll post it if i find it) and they got it to run 125 mhz above standart just by adding a simple Zalman cooler. Though anything above 125 would become unstable and would need water cooling or something even more extreme :P

I really love the card though, it does everything i want it to do, and now i can finally burn all my anime to dvd (I already burnt 31 dvd's and only have about 12 more to go :P)

Anyway I love it <3 (It IS an upgrade really, I upgraded from a 6200 =/)

Oh is that because you bought the DVD writer?
Be careful when you burn your DVDs, my anime were burning OK.
But later when I played them back the disc has some random bad sectors, something strange happened to the DVD writer.
So make sure you fully test the videos on the DVD before you delete the anime off your hard disk.

Ever since I have stopped trusting DVD-Rs. I copy everything to a USB HDD drive (less safer but easier to recover data from).

Yeah that was my idea a year ago, but now even my 300GB usb drive is full and my normal hdd which is 160GB and a SWAP-drive which is 80 GB so...

Of all those drives I only have 11GB free space =/
I havent deleted the anime yet, and i'll check them, thanks for the advice!

Kazaa - I wouldn't trust that with my P2 machine anymore.
I did get hooked on Ranma/DBZ/Inuyasha while using iMesh which was still bad for adware.
That was till I moved to edonkey and emule.
Now its all BT...

Yeah I also only use BT for the last couple of years.
I really got into it when I got my Torrentbytes.net account which has everything at uber-speeds, me like :P
