Faceless Field Model Trouble
« on: 2007-05-16 22:33:02 »
Hi guys - new meat  :-D

The past few days I've been experimenting with Kimera: swapping the field models around, editing the p files etc, etc.  But I've got a problem.

When I open the hrc files with Kimera, some of the models lose their eyes and mouths and when I stick the files back in the game the models remain faceless.  For example  Rufus' head:  http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h63/Scorpicus/facelessRufus.jpg

I'm pretty sure I must be missing out something blatently obvious, but I've searched the forum to no avail.

Thanks for any help in advance

Um.. Theres something weird there, because even if the texture isn't rendering there should be colour of his face just without the eyes and mouth. So I'm npot to sure whats wrong there???

Yep.  What version of kimera do you use?  If you used the lastest version (8.2 I think) it might be one of the many bugs this version has right now.  If you used a version before the 8th version it might just be that kimera didn't support textures yet and messed with your RSD or TEX files (It happened to me before).  Open the RSD file of the head of this model (the one with the problem) in the block note and tell us what's inside.

Yeah, I'm using  Kimera 8.2.

Open the RSD file of the head of this model (the one with the problem) in the block note and tell us what's inside.

Sorry, I don't follow what you mean by "opening it in the block note".

I did  however look at the RSD file through biturn. Before I edit the hrc with Kimera everything is exactly as it should be - eyes and mouth present.  But, after I edit it (even if I simply open the HRC file, make no changes and save over the previous file) the eyes and mouth disappear.

The TEX files for the eyes and mouth in Biturn (before and after the editing) still seem to be fine though.

He means that you must open it with the "Note Pad"

Yeah I meant the note pad sorry.  Haha and I even made a typo 'cause in french it's "Bloc notes" not "Block note" haha.

Anyway, if it shows okey in Biturn after you save with kimera then it's not a RSD problem, so nevermind opening the RSD in the note pad.  Hum... it might be one of the many bugs in kimera with this version then.  somehow it seems it messed with the TEX files.  This suprise me though, I didn't think kimera would change anything in the TEX files.  You could try to post your problem in the Kimera's official thread in the programing feedback forum section.  It seems to be something related to some problem already known (like the fact that it makes it when you save).

So... looks like I messed again, right? About the textures I must say that Kimera writes them, but it SHOULDN'T change them at all. Not yet :-P. Well, I'll have to check out.
