Intermix Hardware/Software Rendering in FF7?
« on: 2008-02-16 17:25:51 »
A lot of people (myself included) have graphics cards that do not have support for 8-bit paletted textures but yet have full support for everything else. Could it be possible to enable Direct3d hardware acceleration but have 8-bit paletted textures done in software? If so what modifications would need to be made?

I have the 1.02 patch and when I turn on the Nvidia option (either chipset) and use d3d hardware acceleration the title screen and fmvs are fine but when i'm in the field there is a red and grey grid over the screen. And besides the 1.02 patch doesn't do 8-bit paletted textures in software it just turns them off.

When you check the TNT Option there shouldnt be these lines.
Check if you have enabled Anti-Aliasing in your Graphics driver options becaus AA causes the grid.
If you want to play with AA, apply The Saint's High Res Patch.

It's not as bad on TNT but it's still there.
And I don't think my card could do AA if I wanted it to I have a 16mb ATI Rage 128 Ultra.
