Hi! I seem to have the exact same problem as LeDouche.
I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Whenever I try to install FF7, the window closes and nothing seems to happen. I checked the task manager and two new processes started (wowexec.exe and ff7inst.exe) but they both take up no memory (literally, a blank space instead of the usual 4 K or whatever) and no CPU, and do absolutely nothing.
I checked AUTOEXEC.NT, but the one in %windir%\system32\ was the same as the one in %windir%\repair\. I copied it in for good measure but it had no effect.
Also, I've set all of the programs on the install disk to run in Windows 95 compatibility mode, to no avail.
Help?
Also, apologies for the thread necromancy. It just made sense to tack my post on the end of this one 'cause it's the same problem.
Edit: Belay that. I left my machine running and went out on the town, and now that I've come home I see the processes finally kicked in. Installation successful.
Never mind, I guess. Wish there were a way to un-bump threads. :/
