I built my PC, and I don't own a copy of Vista. Now, I actually don't have a problem with Vista; I would install it if I could. But that's a lot of money to spend to play one game.
Maybe a better solution: why not buy an old PCI graphics card? There are lots of GF4MX440's on eBay for $25 shipped. It would run FFVII with no problems at all. My question here is about practical issues with having two video cards in one PC.
1. If I had both an 8800GT and an MX440 installed, what would happen when I install the drivers for both of those cards? Would my PC crash? I know that manuals typically instruct you to remove old drivers before installing new ones. The newest drivers for the MX440 are 93.71. Is there a way I could install both sets of Forceware and switch between them?
2. Suppose I normally boot using the 8800GT as my primary display adapter, but I want to play FFVII. Would it simply be a matter of turning off the machine, unplugging the 8800's DVI cable, plugging in the MX440's VGA, and turning the machine back on?
