# Sorceress's Resentment – Deep Overhaul Edition
## Introduction
This mod is built upon the **English version of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (2019)**. It is **not** intended to include any localization and is fully independent of any existing translation patches.
### Installation
**For players using the vanilla game (without HD mods):**
Simply replace the original `main.zzz` with the one included in this release.
**For players using HD texture mods (DEMASTER):**
Download the HD version of the *Sorceress's Resentment* patch, then replace the corresponding files in:
`\DEMASTER_EXP\data\`

This overhaul completely redesigns the game's combat and progression systems. The difficulty has been increased dramatically, and it is intended for players who already have a solid understanding of **Final Fantasy VIII's** battle mechanics, status effects, elemental interactions, and Junction system.
Please save frequently during your playthrough. It is entirely possible to reach situations that cannot be overcome without proper preparation.
Regarding the built-in cheats included in the 2019 Remastered version, I'd like to say the following as the mod's creator:
If you can complete this overhaul **without using any cheats** (3× battle speed doesn't count), then you have my sincere respect. It proves that you've truly mastered FFVIII's mechanics, and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to play my mod.
If you absolutely have to rely on cheats to progress... then go ahead.
That said, cheating doesn't necessarily guarantee victory—especially against the later bosses. During development, I deliberately balanced the game around characters with maxed-out stats and even considered common cheat scenarios. In other words, simply maxing your stats or using cheats will not automatically let you defeat every boss.
The bosses are difficult, but they are **not impossible**. Every encounter has its own intended strategies and solutions. If you can't beat one, aside from a small amount of bad luck, it usually means there's still room to improve your understanding of the battle.
