Having some major graphic issues

I recently upgraded my old monitor to a widesceen TV for my computer. Since doing so though I cannot play FF7. I have tried a little messing around but do not really know what to do. It just shows a blank screen with a huge mouse pointer that does not do anything but move around. Also cannot exit out of. Have to turn the computer off.
Any suggestions?

Have you used high res patch? Since if your widescreen doesn't support higher than 1280x800 the high res patch will automaticly block you from playing since your screen wouldn't be supporting 1280x1024 (high res patch resolution).

If using the patch is the case, you will have to play without using it, then it should work fine (Atleast it does on my 15.4" widescreen laptop which has 1280x800).

Also, to avoid damaging your computer in case this happens again, download and install a tool called SuperF4. It ends any processes that are running in fullscreen and returns to Windows by simply pressing Control+Alt+F4. Be careful though, if no fullscreen applications are running and you press this combination, it will close the explorer. It should be alright, since the keys aren't close to each other.

I wasn't able to, even though I installed patch 1.02, which I got in a pack that came with it.

It won't work for Ultima edition...
