Won't install
« on: 2010-04-07 19:16:48 »
Problem.  I have been on and offline and v busy with new SSD harddrive and installs, since my last just suffered a head crash.  Lovely. No warning.

Anyway, The windows installation for some reason decided to install to Drive letter H instead of C and this seems to have caused a few issues.

I could change it to C in the control panel but I am guessing this will have nasty side effects.  FF7 doesn't seem to be installing.  I click on install and nothing happens.

Related?

Here :)

Make sure your registry is clear of all things FF7 as well. Or it will look for movie files in old drive space...

I am guessing what you mean is that you click INSTALL on the autorun and it does nothing ? i doubt this is related to your drive problem.
FF7 install disc uses a NE format EXE and NOT a PE format EXE for installation (NE is basicly a windows 3.x EXE) which alot of systems have trouble with, it may be possible to fix if this is the problem since only ff7inst.exe seems to be 16bit (it may even be possible to just switch to safe mode to be able to install)

EDIT- also check to see if wowexec.exe and ff7inst.exe are in your taskmanager once you have clicked on the INSTALL button.

I was too hasty this time, I jumped to conclusions.  A restart did the trick, I think prob installed too many programs and something hung.

Yeah not like me that but so much goin wrong this week I feared the worst :)

Thanks anyway!  Installed now!
