Low Level Game for FF7
« on: 2008-07-12 06:15:38 »
Hey all.

I was just wondering if there was a big difference between running a high-level game ( such as 70+ by the time you reach the Northern Crater) and a low level game. I dont think i was playing very strategically, because I found the game somewhat challenging in some places, while I even had higher levels. Some people think the game is easy, and I didn't agree, so was I just not playing it in a strategic way? Because a lot of people think a low-level game is more fun and challenging, but I thought it ws challenging enough as is.

Once you've finished your 7th playthrough then decide if it is still challenging.

So its one of those deals, lol. Well, I haven't played it enough, 4th  time through. Still find it challenging though, at some bosses and in Northern cave and Sunken Gelnika.

Well, speedrunning the game is quite similar to Low Level, except you don't kill off party members to avoid experience from bosses. Here is the current speedrun on SDA (GarlandG is working on one too, I think). Reading/watching that might give you some hints for low-level game.

Actually wouldnt it be beneficial to grab levels in junon for about 1 hour on your speed playthrough? If you hadnt been gaining to that point one hour of play would give you massive level and ap gains, and that would in turn make every subsequent battle in the game shorter due to increased strength, I bet some battles take a very long time on low levels.

I would be interested in doing a speedrun, I believe I could rank with the best....may test it out after 2 more playthroughs..(second playthrough I'll make a guide for the quickest way to activate all story triggers so I can just flatout run from poiunt a-b and not worry bout anything.)I would then disregard ANY sidequest or area or event that would be out of the main story path aside from lvling in junon to make the later battles faster(And maybe if time allows getting some strong extra materias to help with the harder battles.)

If I did a speedrun I would have to document the ENTIRE playthrough correct? 10+ hrs of video would take up a lot of space...

Its much better trying to finish the game at level 50 and below. I've tried it once and my highest character level was Cloud and he's level 49. Although I didn't fight the weapons when I did that since they're hard when in that level. Bizzaro Sephiroth is really scary when your characters are low leveled.
