Sound Issue
« on: 2010-06-04 03:48:12 »
Last topic, I swear!  So, for the past couple hours I have been trying to get FF7music to work.  I did, and it works marvelously.  But for some reason, now my game would put the sound effects like slashes, and going through menus and stuff like that through my head phones.  In other words, my sound effects can only play through my speakers.

Before I downloaded FF7music, all the sound and everything worked fine, but for some reason now the sound only wants to come through my speakers.  It should also be noted that the headphones I am using use a USB jack, so my computer treats it as an entirely different set of speakers.  So is there any way for me to control which speakers my FFVII sound effects come out of?  I've tried disabling my regular speakers, bu tthat just causes FFVII to not start at all for some reason.

Please help  :'(

still doesn't work o.o I'm so close to having the perfect game >.< why does something stupid like this have to happen?  It should also be noted that it didn't happen until the first time I ran the game with FF7Musicthe first time.  Is there anything there that could affect it?

Absolutely.

If FF7Music, change your output plugin settings to use the output you want. Make sure that FF7Config is also set up that way.

Report back with if it worked or not.

Everything is set to come out of my Headphones, yet only the in game music does at this point.  All FMV sounds, and in game sound effects come out of my speakers.  It's gonna be some stupid solution too, just watch...

If you're using Windows 7 (might also work on Vista), try this.

In your system tray, right click on your volume icon. Select Playback Devices. You should see a window like this:

Make sure you're in the Playback tab. Select the sound device you want to use, in your case your USB headphones, and click Set Default.

Tell me if this works.

I've always had my headphones set to default, and yes I am using Windows 7.  It should also be noted that whether I run the game with FF7Music, or with the regular .exe file, the sound effects go through my speakers, while the music goes through my headphones.

Hmm... Try running FF7Config in different compatibility modes (try 98, and if that doesn't work, try XP). It can be finicky when running on Windows 7, IIRC.

In each compatibility mode, check the sound tab, make sure the desired device is selected.
