Sony inc folder wont show up under hkey local machine

Lately I've had to resort to using iso. images to play ff8 since my ff disks have become unreadable and I recently got a new computer so I am unable to reinstall. The problem is I need to alter some thing in reg edit under hkey local machine I am then supposed to go under the software tab where the sony inc folder is supposed to be, but it is not. How can I get my sony inc folder under the software tab?

I've seen many problems and this could be because you're running other OS other than XP and the game is installed elsewhere?

You're supposed to be looking for "Square Soft, Inc". No Sony.
