Preventing level ups
« on: 2010-09-16 04:58:28 »
I have just started my first mod for the PSX in which characters will remain at a starting level of 10 throughout the course of the game.

Using WallMarket I am able to change the starting level, but can't find a way to prevent the next level from being reached other than for it to require a lot of xp..

Even still, when I do that the xp bar looks funny and will run all the way to the edge of the screen.  Just wonder if there's an easy way to prevent characters from levelling WITHOUT having to make all monsters in the game reward 0 xp.  I am happy to do that too, but would like to have the xp bars empty from the start of the game so that it looks nice.

Also, as a side note.. how easy is it to change the descriptions/names of items and spells?

Thanks!

wallmarket can change descriptions and names. you shouldn't make them too long because it tends to be too big for the ingame window.

one way is like you said to cut the exp from all monsters. some work but definitely do-able in a hour or two.
you can also adjust 'starting' exp and starting level in wallmarket but I assume you know that. combine those two and the exp bar will always be empty.

Preventing all enemies from giving xp only takes a few seconds : in the Hojo Scene.bin editor, click on Edit, then Enemy Profile, check the Exp box, enter 0, and finally press the "Apply to all enemies" button. Tadah ! It's done.
