ReBoot - Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD
« on: 2010-12-22 07:43:42 »
If you happen to be a fan of Beast Wars - Transformers, then you probably know of Mainframe Ent.'s other CGI show, ReBoot (or you may be a big fan of the series without being a fan of Beast Wars). The first two seasons, never received a proper DVD release. The third and fourth seasons have long been out of print (often sold at high prices on eBay). That is about to change early next year!

Rainmaker (the company that bought up Mainframe Ent. a few years back) has partnered with Shout! Factory to release all of ReBoot (all 47 episodes from all four seasons!).

Currently, seasons 1 and 2 have a set release date of March 1st 2011. Seasons 3 and 4 are TBA.

There is also a complete boxset collectors set coming out at some point (TBA).

As for any extras, I personally happen to be in contact with those who worked on the show (co-creators, voice actors, etc), and I can say there has been some recording of commentary!

If you don't want to wait for the boxset, you can pre-order Seasons 1&2 from Amazon right away at a discount!

I loved this show so much. I'm really impressed at how much effort has gone into satiating the fans for the past year or so.

I loved this show so much.

You and I should talk some time then! I have a ton of information about the show. I even once read rough drafts and scripts on the back deck of Gavin Blair's home, he's one of the original co-creators. :D I've spoken and/or met with Michael Benyaer (voice of Bob), Ian James Corlett (voice of Glitch-Bob), Shirley Milliner (voice of Hexadecimal), Paul Dobson (voice of Matrix), Sharon Alexander (voice of adult AndrAIa), Garry Chalk (voice of Turbo, Slash, Herr Doktor, Cyrus, and Al’s Waiter [front counter]), Scott McNeil (voice of Specky and Hack), and Michael Donovan (voice of Phong, Mike the TV, Cecil, and Al). I had them sign a poster, and a few figure bases/boxes that I brought with me.

You may also enjoy my website, rebootrevival.com. And I assume you'd like this convention panel. :)

As for how much effort has gone into it, well... I know a bit about the inner workings of Rainmaker, and suffice to say, they could be doing a lot better... but that's another story eh?

Dude! I've been looking for these forever! All I ever found as the Canadian two-or-three episode DVDs for, like, $50 USD! No wonder I never found them, though.

Is the third season scheduled to be released too? You can't release the second without releasing the third.

My biggest problem with this series is that there were a lot of unanswered questions. Plot lines that they started that never got visited again (like Megabyte calling that null "father").

Yeah, the third season DVDs you came across were being sold at crazy-high prices due to the DVD's being long out of print. So, the sellers were going by a perfect example of supply and demand.

Yes, there are plans to release the third and fourth seasons. No cover art has been released yet, but suffice to say, I will post it up as soon as it happens. :)

Well, feel free to ask me any questions about plot stuff, and I'll see if I can answer! Like, you say Megabyte calling his pet null "father" was unresolved...... not true! In Season 4 (which is made up of the two movies, "Daemon Rising" and "My Two Bobs", both were then split into eight episodes total) we get a flashback of how the Twin City, where Dot and Enzo's father was nullified. The experiment that caused that, also brought a newly upgraded Gigabyte (previous form was Killabyte) to the Twin City via the Gateway command. The Gateway overloaded, and the resulting explosion split Gigabyte into Hexadecimal and Megabyte. You see, by skipping a generation (as stated in the show by Dixon Green, Bob's partner and mentor) in the upgrade Megabyte and Hex would have never been around... but! through Welman Matrix's experiment and resulting explosion, he.... in a way, gave life to both viruses (Hex later explains more of what she remembers, claiming to be born in the explosion that created Lost Angles aka the remains of the Twin City).

*phew* Told you guys I knew a lot.... (is it sad that it's all stored in my mind and I didn't have to look any of that up?).
