FF7 on Windows x64
« on: 2011-11-16 17:27:17 »
I downloaded FF7 Remix because I would get "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."I'm getting an error upon running Run FFVII-Remix.bat or the corresponding shortcut: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." and I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I downloaded this mod compilation because I would get this error, which I have gotten on non-64-bit applications before, and was under the assumption that this was compatible with x64. My APP.LOG is as follows:

Now I think that the message is clear. Use Bootleg instead.

I can't seem to find a Bootleg mod, unless of course you mean a pirated copy of the game  ;) Can you post a link?

I installed Bootleg with FF7Music and 1.02 patch, but now, when I start Run FFVII-Bootleg.bat or FF7Music.exe (or their corresponding shortcuts), it opens FF7Music, which auto-closes in 5 seconds unless I click Run FF7, but either way FF7 doesn't start, and doesn't leave any error message.
[EDIT]
It gives that weird error message I got earlier if I click Launch FF7 on the desktop and I click run FF7 in FF7Music. My FF7Config.exe doesn't show Custom Renderer as an option after installing Bootleg, although it would show an error window when selecting it before anyways, probably my crappy onboard graphics.
This is my FF7 directory tree, if it helps:

Try running FF7 in compatibility mode.
These are the most compatible setting.

Right click on ff7.exe in the game folder.
Select Properties.
Go to the Compatibility tab.
Tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for.'
Set the drop down list to 'Windows 98/Windows Me.'
Tick all the boxes under Settings:
    Run in 256 colors
    Run in 640x480 screen resolution
    Disable visual themes
    Disable desktop composition
    Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
Tick 'Run this program as an administrator.'

Now open FF7_OpenGL.cfg in notepad (or use the configure option in BootLoader).
Set the game resolution to 1280x960:
    window_size_x = 1280
    window_size_y = 960
Turn off fullscreen:
    fullscreen = no
Disable shaders:
    use_shaders = no
Disable transparence:
    fancy_transparency = off
    transparent_dialogs = off
Disable compression:
    compress_textures = no
Disable PBO:
    use_pbo = no

Make sure that you install Bootleg on a fresh maximum installation of the official US 3 CD-Rom version of Final Fantasy VII.
