Sound issues on one scene.
« on: 2013-08-27 05:52:05 »
I recently installed FFVII and put in a few mods with the latest bootleg files. Everything's been working fine so far, the only error while installing was windows saying it couldn't find 'Forfiles'.

I've just finished the first bombing mission, and after cloud jumps onto the train from the bridge, the sound cuts out in the next scene with Avalanche on the train. Once they all exit and go into the passenger train, sound resumes.

I've tried this a few times, it happens everytime so far, the scene is just completely silent. (If I remember correctly, there's no music in that scene, just the sound of the train and Barret hitting the box etc, so that probably rules out FF7music).

I'm running it on Windows XP SP3, anyone know what might be happening?

Bootleg040 is not designed for XP, but can still be used.
After the Bootleg040 Omzy's FFVII Field Pack must be manually inserted into the mods\Bootleg folder.
You must also edit the "Run FFVII-Bootleg.bat", remove all "/AFFINITY F" (XP dont know about this).

A known bug.
The game wants the music (MIDI) to fade out on some places, but the operating system alternates the complete sound softly.
But that this also happened with XP I have not yet been known.

With FF7Music the problem should be solved.
Alternatively, you can also install a virtual MIDI device.
At the Last works not fade in/out, the volume is always on.

I'll try applying the XP fixes you mentioned, but as for saying that the bug will be solved with FF7Music... it's already installed, it was part of the bootleg installation. I have it set to PSF for the original PSX OST if that helps though.

I'll report back when I do the field pack and such.

Also how do I edit a .bat file to remove the affinity stuff?

With the Editor, Notepad or any other text editor.

Okay, I inserted the field pack. I assume I didn't need to edit the config file to change the mod path from bootleg to facepalmer since there's other mods? I haven't immediately noticed a quality change, but it's in there. (Or would I need to reinstall the mods for facepalmer's textures? I believe I had bootleg textures selected when I installed)

After editing out the Affinity F bits FF7 loads straight up instead of me having to do it through FF7music, so that's nice. It also made the Style Switcher work, which it wasn't previously doing.

But other than that, I still have my original sound problem. If it is FF7Music, what should I be playing around with in the config? Unsure about Virtual Midi devices I'm afraid.

I suspect that FF7Music not run properly with you ...

In order to test that, please delete the files "ff7music.log" (log file) in the folder "FF7Music" and "Ficedula".
Then you start the game short and ended it again.
See if a new "FF7Music.log" was created and write the contents in here.
