Mod to swift characters
« on: 2014-04-14 19:54:46 »
Hi guys will it ever have a Mod to swift charater like Kimera: FF7 p model simple editor I have been looking for something like this but it has been sooo long I was hopping if anyone could direct me to a link or anything similar to it. Also I was hoping if there is a program that I could use to create or edit characters of final fantasy VII and make them as a MoD for the community :) Thanks!

I'm not sure what you're asking. Swift characters like Kimera? Do you mean rebuild and update the models? Because Kimera works fine and there really isn't any other tool. MoD for the community, do you mean release a public mod for the forum? Sounds great, as long as it's original work by you or someone who's given you permission. All the tools are already available on the forum.

Yes I understand, some of the links are broken since there where posted long time ago like the kimera one, about permissions of course that is very important point I am really hoping here that people with 3D skills could manage to work together and make something fun an exiting since this game has a lot of potential even today.

The best way is to replace models is to use 7th Heaven - http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14490.0
With Makou Reactor you can find the NPC of a field very fast. http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=9658.0
Use ulgp instead of Highwind to extract the models from Char.lgp/Battle.lgp/world'..'.lgp. Highwind has a high chance to create bad files.
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=12831.0
You can spot Kimera to the extracted char.lgp folder with the show Char.lgp DB button (very useful).

7th Heaven has its own mod folder. Basically you create a directory in it (as example NewCharTest), and in that directory you create a new one, which you will call like the file you want to replace (char.lgp). Open 7th Heaven and click on search on the library tab to load it in. Now all what you need to do is to activate it.
The good thing about 7th Heaven is that you can have a main build for the all done and ready to use characters and a test build with only the new models you are working on. Simply place the test build above the main build in the load order.

Here is Bitrun: https://mega.co.nz/#!iIEUxADT!2McPFzr38EU1jX3ofkr4-K-tX4044OW6hJ8lXb1vLpM
With this tool you can convert p-files to 3ds files.

As side note: there is currently no way to replace the models of the snowboard minigame.

I have forgotten two tools for tex texture files:
https://mega.co.nz/#!6NkhwIaR!FsvzFAdWE3PutLbkLVuVRzT2GxtOVs2HVV-kKCLyM50

One in is img2tex from Borde. It works with the BMP file format. The other is TexTool from Iros. This tool uses PNG files.
