I'm pretty much a newb, but I've followed some tutorials on getting some decent mods, and load order, etc.

When I try to launch the game, it says it cannot run the game from a protected folder, ie, steamapps.

So it asks to copy the game to my generic Game folder. Now I don't fancy having the game existing twice on my system, but at the moment I can either have the game run from steam, OR from 7th Heaven, but not both. Is this normal?

Also, this may not be the right place to ask so apologies, but I don't want random battles. The flaw with that is the characters won't level up, and even with the invincible mode on, I foresee boss fights taking increasingly longer times. Is there a way around this as I cannot see a stat booster of any kind. Again, apologies if this is the wrong place.

Program Files is what is key, not steamapps necessarily. You can create a new Steam library outside of Program Files and use that if you want. You don't need the duplicate copy of FF7 on your system either, you can delete the one in your Program Files\Steam...\. You can point the Steam UI to the ff7_en.exe file in your C:\Games folder to still launch from Steam. The Steam exe cannot use mods but can have achievements and cloud saves. The ff7.exe can be modded but doesn't have the Steam features.

Ochu might have some of the tweaks you're looking for, I'm not sure. Run the game first, then run Ochu as administrator.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't think of pointing steam to my Game folder, I should have done as I already have it pointing to Minecraft, and a few emulators.

Also, thank you for the Ochu suggestion, I shall look into that.
