Who did you lend them to? A werewolf? I would have made him freaking pay for my game if he did that. I have an option that will require a cd burner and 4 blank cd's. Get some burning software that will allow you to repair a cd by burning a fixed copy of the cd. I believe Nero can do that. Well, do THAT and test it out to see if your burned copies will work out. I actually did manage to get that to work with an audio cd that would unconditionally skip at a certain point. Good luck with that plan. It may be your only chance.

Another option would be to copy all the movie files to somewhere on your hd (if you are able to even read the cd's) and change the registry key of movie locations to that directory where you placed them. I can't get that registry key off the top of my head because I DON'T HAVE FF8PC! And since it is obvious that you know about regediting already, this should be simple for you.

Or, you could try to wash the cd using some sort of liquid soap. That usually works great for any kind of skipping or crap that I get with CD's. I would try THAT before anything else. But I doubt it'll help because this sounds quite serious.

So, pick your poison.

What amazes me so much is the fact that Icedamo's post is only one sentence.

My cds are scratched so much I might not be able to copy them in a burner. I will just look on bit torrent for isos, then reburn it that way.

FF8's movies didn't work like that....you can't repath; like you can with FF7....they got there crap together, by not relying on DirectX's Mediaplayer and that AVI Format to play the movies.....they used there own engine, like everyone else does, nowadays.

Your only chance would be to get your friend to buy a copy off of Ebay.....or make him buy you the PSX version for you. And then just emulate it with ePSXe, or get yourself a pre-owned Playstation...they run about 20 dollars....or better yet, tell him he owes you 45 dollars.....that will cover FF8 and a refurbished PSX... might even cover a generic memory card....Although I suggest getting a Sony memory card. The generics tend to not save some games, sometimes.

(on a side note....PSX....they are making an all in one wonder machine....and naming it PSX. Supposed to be a VCR, DVD, PS2, and other stuff all in one box. Like that Tivo thing....guess we're going to have to say PS, from now on.)
