Final Fantasy XII
« on: 2003-11-14 17:48:10 »
The two main characters are Van and Ashie, the story is about an adventure on the airship. The game begins in a battle in the jungle, where Van is riding on a dragon. Up to 3 persons can participate in battles. It seems like there are Chocobo Knights in the game as well. Full details will be revealed at the Final Fantasy XII Conference on November 19.

check out the first picture released!

*very, VERY eagerly awaits Nov. 19th*

Edit: just a thought, but you may want to link to the picture on an external site instead of posting such a large image in the thread.

You could not have possibly been more right with that statement

That guy looks like kuja got a haircut and stopped wearing women's clothing. And once again, that freaky pirate appears on another picture. Oh, gee, I hope they blatantly copy another FF game (like the way they basically re-did FF9 with FFX) when they make FF12! I sure hope *chuckle* it's based on *tee hee* FF7! So then, we could have rambunctious fun chasing down aliens while riding chocobos through the wutai countryside!! Yipee!!

I am going to make it a personal goal to not play this game.  :P
Just kidding...

But I won't play it.

i did'nt notice much similarities between ff9 or ffx, but anyway i hope they have more summons and spells this time round ffx only had like 5-6 summons and not all charactor could cast them.

Well, I'm not saying it's an exact ripoff, but there are many elements that are quite similar.

****CAUTION, SPOILERS FOR FF9/FFX****

1. Main character is from another place (zanarkand, terra)
2. Leading female is summoner (Yuna, Garnet)
3. Tough guy assigned to protect leading female has all the breaks (power break, armor break, mental break etc. Auron, Steiner)
4. Spheres/circles are used in some fashion (sphere grid, magical stones)
5. The characters are pretty much the same (skill-wise, there's nothing new)
a. Zidane = parts of rikku(stealing), but has the leading role of tidus
b. Vivi = Lulu. Do I need to get any further in-depth?
c. Steiner = Auron. Sworn guardian, uses a huge sword. No questions asked.
d. Garnet = Yuna. Leading female, summoner. Pretty obvious.
e. Quina = Kimahri. Uses blue magic, and comes from a weird race.
f.  Freya = Wakka...but kind of not really. The "jump" command can be thought of as an aerial attack, but it really doesn't completely match up.
g. Eiko = parts of tidus (haste magig), but otherwise a useless character (actually, more useful than Garnet, but since she is the 2nd summoner to come on the scene she is more useless),
h. Amarant = Rikku..kind of. They both throw stuff, and that's sufficient.

So there's a few differences and a few similarities. But other than the minimal differences, the main plot remains the same.

FF9's plot outline: "A bunch of adventurers led by a thieving man and young summoning girl are trying to stop the world from being destroyed by forces from another planet."

FFX's plot outline: "A group of people guarding a summoner who is attempting a pilgrimage to an ancient city to prevent the further destruction of the world."

Yeah...pretty much no different.

I never looked at it like that.. but really when you say it like that then all the ff's are somewhat related.. the whole magic caster / supporting members theme has been used quite a bit.. look at VI when your comparing IX and X.. kinda similar too in that respect.. but i never looked at 9 and 10 as being similar.. hmm..

Another thing.. has anyone noticed that the chars in the pic closely resemble Tidus and Yuna? I didnt see kuja in the pic i saw Tidus..

Well, if you count Terra as the leading male from another world, it could probably work. However, all 3 are similar in that respect.

I'll have to completely disagree with you on who they look like. Both of them are just too different to be compared with Yuna and Tidus. The girl looks all right I guess, but she is pretty far-off from Yuna. And the guy...Tidus..? No way. Just take a look at this...

Ooh, blonde hair for Tidus and the middleman (Van, right? I hope there isn't a dude named "Ashie" in FF12. It's flying a little too close to Vagrant Story, and they'd be giving him a girl's name). It's no mystery why burglars and criminals only change their hair; that's the most memorable feature on someone's head. If you notice, both Kuja and Van have stupider-looking faces. No, really. If you said to their faces they have stupid-looking faces, they would probably agree with you. Okay, they're not stupid...it's just that Tidus looks a bit more japanese-ish. I'll also admit he's a better-looking guy. The other guys are white boys. With dumb hair.

Once again, the only similarities between their heads is the brown hair. Ashie's head is much "taller" than Yuna's. And don't tell me "it's not the same ratio of picture, you're an idiot!!!" because I know that you know exactly what I mean. Ashie's mouth seems a bit wider, and her cheeks seem to be less prominent. If anything, she looks like beatrix from FF9, as you can clearly see above.

Right. I meant they were similar in what skills they had, not by who was cooler.

The number keeps rising...
Hi!

Well, from Final Fantasy 7 came 8, and from 8 came 9. I'm curious of what will happen if the number keeps going on. Will a Final Fantasy XIX be released one day, or a FFXIVVXIXX, maybe?

I hope it does, but not too fast. I haven't even played X much, and then XI and now XII are released.  :(

xeriouxi.

From what I've heard I think FFXII is going to be the last of the series.... but I might be wrong, as I'm not 100% certain.
