HELP!FF7 crashes when gets to world map
« on: 2004-05-04 07:41:33 »
If I enter the world map,I receive a black screen, but the music is still on.If I press "enter",the game jumps to desktop.I've tried all the patches(Nvidia patch, XP patch, quarter screen, software renderer)but without luck. And I even spent 2 HOURS installing WIN98 SE(dual boot always stinks),but still nothing.
Can anyone help me for GOD's sake? After all I've played FF10,9,8 and I wanna keep playing this one.

Configurations:
OS: WINXP Pro/WIN98 SE
CPU:Celeron 2.6GHz
Video card:GeForce 4 MX440
Directx9.0b

hmmm

Did you do a full install?  The only thing i can think of is that the game cant read the world map info, either becasue a) the version you isntalled is bad or b) it cant read the CD (if you did a partial install).

Now you're talking,EmperorSteele!Many thx,I really appreciate your help.The problem is that I didn't select the full install.Well after all,I'm deleting WIN98 SE now. :)
PS:But I'm still a little confused,'cause I use a .ISO file to play FF7...

Long, long ago....increasing Virtual Ram would solve this problem.

How much ram do you have.....I think you need something like 400megs of Vram open with 16meg Ram. The number for the Vram goes down the more Sdram you have.

woe, there.....ISO file? Are you emulating?

Nope,an emulator won't have so many problems and patches.I just use the PC version, but my DVD-ROM is a little,um,fragile,so I created an ISO file, which is mounted by DAEMON.That would be fast.
