High Res Sephiroth (in-battle)
« on: 2004-09-16 12:34:35 »
Its nearly common knowledge that in the very last battle in FF7 there is a high-res version of Cloud that can be hacked so it can be used throughout the game. However, the observant gamer would notice that the Sephiroth model in that battle is also a high-res version of Sephiroth, but without his shirt. By merging the high and low res models respectively it would be possible to have a high-res Sephiroth in the very small part of the game you see him in-battle. I'll get around to making this patch in a few days or so, or I'm fine with someone else taking up the idea and doing it. But as far as no one has really experimented with merging models aside from myself.

Sounds like a cool idea to me. I've been tinkering around with the models the last couple of days myself, but thats about all I can manage to do, tinker. All this is new to me, so I'm looking forward to when you finish it.

I only wish we could fix all the battle animation problems now.   :(

Vanit: user Rubicant (who was banned from the forums long time ago :( ) was doing something like this, see this:

As I see it teoretically, you should extract bodyparts of your interest, then rename files to belong to target model and then to import them back into archive.

the only part of the hi res sephiroth model that will work with the low res are the legs head and hair, the chest has a completely different polygon structure and would be impossible to merge. thus, there is no point...

No point in doing so.
And yes, others did do it.
For a Sephiroth-related example - I "merged" or rather made a Sephiroth model on Cloud's skeleton thus making a Sephiroth-look-a-like fully Cloud-animation playable.
And no real use for a "little" HQ model of Sephiroth.
If you really feel like doing it though, it's a matter of seconds..
