FF8 nVidia GForce FX go5200... Help needed.
« on: 2004-10-26 19:58:18 »
Hey guys,

Im running FF8 on my Dell laptop

3.06 Ghz
512MB of RAM
and i am running windows XP

i have my settings in FF8 Cofig as Direct hardware 3D Acceleration.

When running the game, almost all of the game is running slow.  In battles the music slows down to about half speed, and the graphics run just as slow.

I just updated my drivers yesterday, so i dont know what the problem is.

All help is appreciated, thank you.

Go to the Power Options control panel and set it to "Always On," then try again.

Setting the power to "Always On" disables Intel's SpeedStep (slowing down the CPU when it's not being utilized fully), which messes up FF8.  If you set the power to "Home/Office Desk," SpeedStep will be disabled when the computer is plugged in and will be enabled when you are running on battery.
