FF8 Problem, Game crashes out.

Right, I've had a problem with FF8 this time around, it's never happened before when I have had it installed.

Basically, everything is fine until I get to the fire caverns and then randomly on the 3rd screen it will sometimes crash, the one time it didn't it just decided to half way through the fight with ifrit.

Now this used to work fine, and I haven't changed anything... well, other than installing it to drive d:\ now in games, rather than c:\program files. Would this have caused it?

Specs are: PII 500, 96 RAM, Rage PRO screen card (and strangely, i don't get the grid screen problems anymore either?) DX9, Win98, Some random soundcard that isn't one of the major types...

Anything else needed? any advice would be nice, want to try and actually get through the game this time.

Maybe it's sound related...but Sound into Basic Acceleration.
Type dxdiag.

Guess, you could try reinstalling.
Heh...or get a P2 running on DX6.

Speaking of DX6.... Did you upgrade that... Could be that. Could be DX9c.
