I want to port Sephiroth's 3d battle model from that last fight to quake3, but alas do not have any of the PC cds except for the install disc (my brother lost them). Do the PSX cds have .p models or anything similar I can convert to some usable format?

It would be nice of course if someone could send that .p model to me, but it would be even better if I could convert hte PSX models though, because then I'd have access to all of them.

Are any models on the install disc? I can't imagine any would, but I should check.

You're probably in luck: IIRC the install disc has pretty much everything *except* the movies, so you can do the full install off it. You're looking for a file called BATTLE.LGP, probably in Data\Battle on the CD.

btw, "porting" the model constitutes ripping and theft. i wouldnt advise it. as theft is illegal, and ripping is frowned upon (highly) by every creative 3d or graphical artist.

If you rip anything make sure you give credit to the person who made the model

actually the rule is that you ask their permission first, simply giving them credit isnt enough, EXSPECIALLY in this case as the model is the sole property of squaresoft..

i would advise either making your own, or finding the two that are our there (the cloaked version which someone made. and the northern crater version which i made)

my sephiroth model for jedi academy, i will allow you to port it over, but you MUST give credit to myself as the creator of the model, and to Kama as the skinner.

failure to do so means beatings with teh n00bzor stick.

Whoa now...
:( I just wanted a better sephy model for myself... I wasn't planning on putting one anywhere or taking credit for it or anything. Is it still illegal to use for personal use? I mean, no one would know anyways but it's not like it is harming anyone. It's just going to sit on my hardrive.

i guess thats ok, but tbh, ur best off not anyway. simply for the fact that the model only has a texture for the face, and thats only for the lips and eyes. the rest is all vertex shaded. so itll look REAL bad inside of q3. like i said tho, feel free to use mine. if you wanna know what it looks like. heres a wallpaper:
