FF7 problems crashing at first encounter
« on: 2005-05-31 03:11:14 »
my game crashes as soon as its about to enter the battle with the two MP's it doesnt go back to the desktop, it just tweaks out and i get a black screen and i can see my mouse pointer. I did the riva patch and only used the config.exe not the ff7.exe and im running it in D3D but dont have Nvidia tnt checked because if i do i fail 8 bit palette textures. Im using the latest nvidia drivers and my card is a geforce 4 ti4800. Can someone try to help me out?

you have to copy the ff7.exe to game directory as well.
This is a common problem but you shld provide system specs such as what version of windows you are using

Are you using XP? I remember having that problem when I was running the demo, and I used the compatability wizard to make the game run in Windows 98 mode. Then it was fine.

yes, im using windows xp

p4 2.4ghz
intel 845 chipset on the mobo
geforce 4 ti 4800
sound blaster live xgamer

Ill try running it under 98 mode, if not i may make a dual boot system.

Well 98 mode dont work, It disables my game pad. I used the exe from the riva patch this time, still didnt work. Any other ideas?

I used to have this problem back with windows 98. It ended up being a DirectX graphics driver problem but apart from that i dunno
