Skipping movies -- Gypt/YAMP doesn't help
« on: 2006-07-01 22:21:49 »
Hello.

I tried the Gypt/YAMP patch to be able to skip movies, but it doesn't appear to work (v1.02).  The patching process includes a few "F1: errore" lines, which suggest perhaps not everything is patched correctly.  Is this normal?  Is it possible that the patched code works correctly on XP but not 9x?

Perhaps it doesn't work in 9x. I can't even use the patcher on 9x or ME, but I can in XP and 2000. And in Windows ME, not only did it not let me skip movies, but it made it impossible to use the Quit shortcut of Crtl Q. I didn't really need Gypt in 9x, but I wanted the speed-up side-effect...

"F1: errore" are OK as long as there isn't "Patching process wasn't successful" line after them. Also, handling shortcuts has been redone. How to use it now? Info here. Basically it's more like an "Alt-TAB" type of shortcut, than "Press Ctrl, and then Q after 5 minutes".

Vehek:
The patcher works in 9x, but there are some things that don't pan out in the batch file.

Indeed, strange how the game handles key combinations (like Ctrl-Q) broken into discrete presses...

Anyway, Ctrl-Q doesn't work anymore after patched, yet Ctrl-S doesn't seem to function.  But I also understand things go faster after skipping a movie this way, so perhaps I'd better stick with the unmodified original.
