Hi,

I am on disc 1 still, Sephiroth has ran a sword through
Aeris, and I am at the scene that Cloud carries Aeris lifeless body to the waters. Fade to black and the scene stays black. The music is playing in the background. I can't continue the game.

I waited, maybe not long enough, but the blacked out screen does not change. Is there a way to go through this or around this?

I will try to play that part with the game configuration windowed next.
Add: Tried that and it did not work.

Thanks,
daljaxon

 - Edit -
I've done an extensive search on the web and could not find the answer to my specific problem. So I started to look for a work-around.

On this page...

http://www.fortunecity.com/rivendell/dark/433/index.html

...I found "FF7 Save Converter 1.2.2." With this I was able to take my save files from the pc FF7 and convert it into save files for the psx version under ePSXe emulator. I was able to get through the part with the emulator and psx FF7 to disc 2. From there I converted it back to the PC version of FF7 and was able to continue playing the PC version of FF7 from that point. Cool, my thanks to the writer of the program.

I am posting this as an alterative to what ever other fixes are available or not available.

I would still like to figure what the problem was originally if anyone has any ideas.

Hi

Are you playing the movies off the cd or the HD.

Another consideration is the movie is corrupt. Try playing funeral.avi in wmp or something and see if it plays back.

Hi Corpse,

To begin with, I was playing the movies off of the hard drive,  tested the movie, the funeral.avi plays just fine when I open it with windows media player. I changed to playing the movies off of the cd to see if that was the problem. That did not work either.

 An Interesting Update...

I also had problems with the date scene freeze up with Cloud and Tifa which I was able to get around using "GYPT." I decided to play an earlier save to build up all my character stats to max out the Limit Breaks, after I built my character stats up as far as I could on disc one, I wound up having no problems with the freeze ups I had experienced earlier on the date scene.

Continuing with the game, the same applied to the problem I addressed here on this forum. At the end of the disc, I had no problems playing past the disc. The ending and request to change disc had performed almost flawlessly. I played all this without putting my movies on the hard drive.

Go figure.

Maybe you have to have your character stats up before some parts of the game works, or maybe battle stats or the number of battles have to be built up, or something else related to this.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions???

Edit:
One more thing, I have been playing all the movies off of the CD's this time, of course there is that delay at times, but I have no problems at all this time.
