Black characters issue

I believe the cause of this wierd bug might be the 8800 cards from nvidia which have dodgy drivers atm. I thought I just should post two screenshots to show what it looks like. Maybe someone have seen it before and have a solution.

When I run the same game through my laptop the game runs just fine, but crashes when the first combat begins.
I used miracle.flame's mod collection (great work all of you) and followed every tech-faq I could find to solve the crashing combat issue but nothing seem to help anyway so for now I consider to grab the playstation version and play it in an emulator and stop bothering getting the PC version to run.

I would say it's a texture problem, but if I remember correctly the models and textures for ff7 are like the same thing...not like nowadays where it's the model with textures on top.

so basically if the problem was with the textures I don;t think the model would show up at all.

hmm, I dunno what to say  :|

pointless post, except to help rule something out

and as for the crashing on the laptop, as long as you have the 1.02 patch (not animevamp's) you should be fine

You are not running anything in the background, any tray apps that we should be aware of?
Have you tried the software rendering mode?
