Help, FFVII Vid Problems
« on: 2008-03-30 16:59:46 »
Hello, I just recently found my box of FF stuff. [Yes, I have a random box for it]
Anyways I found both my FFVII and FFVIII PC cds, and decided to install them.
FFVII worked fine, I found the patch, and then the nVidia patch and away I went.
But VII is another thing.
Every time I load it up, it takes full screen, and just sits there with a black screen.
It doesn't let me alt-tab out. It doesn't let me do anything.
I have the 1.02 patch, only thing I see wrong in the Config is '8-bit paletted textures' fails. But I think it's always failed and I was able to run it before [a good 9 months ago]
I have a nVidia GeForce 6200. So, anyone got suggestions? I'm sure there is a patch for nvidia out there
[Is the GeForce 6200 a RIVA chipset? As I don't have either of those selected]
After I get it running initially, I would like to install the RPR mod over in the game tweeks, As it seems the most promising.

You definitely need RIVA checked in your FF7Config.   Just experiment with both to see which works best for you.  You can also try rendering in software mode.

If you still can't get it to work, post back here with everything you've tried thus far.

Okay, well the thing is i hate experimenting because The only way I can get back to my desktop is by restarting my computer. BUT, I've tried all combination possible in the graphics tab of the config.
Also, where is the "True Moation" support checkbox in ffdshow's config?

nvm fixed it, told ffdshow to just not deal with ff7.exe
