FFVIII Screen Freeze

Hi,

Been trying to get FFVIII working again for a while but always had the black box issue.  Now with the new launcher from "magixts" that issues is in the past but the following keeps happening.  In any given session of play around 15 - 20 mins in the screen freezes.  The game carries on however in the background as I can still hear the music, button presses etc.  I have the correct Nvidia patch, have tried compatability mode and searched the forum for symptons like mine but found none.  Any help would be appreciated from anyone who has experienced the same issue or that know's how to fix it.

have u done any ocing?

make sure u have the latest drivers. www.guru3d.com or www.nvidia.com

use the lastest maybe even the beta

i get this problem after a few hours i dind that i have to reset the game to keep on goin.

does it get slower and slower then crash?

I did notice that it started to lag before it occured.  I have the latest Nvidia drivers for my card (Forceware 169.21).

Should have also included that I am using Windows XP with DirectX 9.0C.  I have also not done any overclocking of my card.

Just a bit frustrating to get rid of the black box problem and now to be faced with this.

Any more advice greatly appreciated.

Well I decided to try and roll back the Nvidia driver's to 94.24 and it seems to have done the trick.  I played for over an hour without a crash and all the lag is gone too.  Will give it a good run and see how it fares but hopefully I won't have any more issues.
