« on: 2008-04-03 03:49:46 »
I just built a new computer with Windows Vista x64 bit.  Is FF7 compatible?

I havent installed it yet and I'm wondering if I should bother.

well i'm pretty sure it will work but i hear from alot of people that vista has a really hard time playing ff7. i don't know this for a fact but i hear that it can have issues with running on your computer. also to apply mods (i don't know wheather it's some or all) you have to get around certain things in order to get them to work properly. again i don't know it as a fact but i do see alot of people complain of it, but even though people have problems with vista it doesn't mean they can't play with it, they can still play the game and apply mods but you have to take a few extra/alternative steps to make them work. i hope this helps

I have Vista on my laptop, and I've had 2 major problems with FFVII, VIII works like a dream though....
Anyways, back to VII, the first problem is, Ultima ersion, or real, it detects a worm virus on installation, and cuts the installation short as for some reason it can't be ignored.  So if you want to risk it, you'll have to switch of you're anti-virus.

Second, as it does on XP without the XP patch, it crashes at random points through out the game, so my advice, disabe the anti-virus to install (trust me, if it's a legit copy, no virsues there) then switch it back on, it's fine after installation  :?
Then, when you're playing, save at EVERY available save point.  I know how much it sucks to miss one cos you want to be on the net oart of the story, only to have the game crash on you half way through a mega long speech. :-(
