Un-experienced person need help!

Hey, I've been playing FFVII for the longest time on PS1, so I recently picked up a copy of the computer version at a garage sale.  I'm playing on this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9081325&st=gateway+fx&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1218017465909 . It has Vista Ultimate I think, and I installed the video codecs and the chocobo patch, and can play on terrible graphics with no problem.  I have no idea where to start to get the graphics up to 900x1200 or more.  I am not sure how to install any of the patches, although I know i have to install patch 1.02 to run the High res patch.  I tried to open the High res patch with the FF7 application, but not sure what I'm doing.  If anyone could show me step by step how to get the high res patch, starting with the 1.02 patch, that would be amazing. I figured out how to install the 1.02 patch, but I've no idea how to install the High res patch, which is just a single .RAR file. Thanks again

RAR is a package. You can download unpacker from http://rarlabs.com and see what files are inside it.
