I have the original PC version, bought it back at a Comp Expo in Pitt, trifold ya kno, Ive done a few fresh installs, and just copy pasted my patched Ff7.exe and config from my old xp install, they were patched with the custom graphics, chocobo, movie, all patches available ive done it and then some. Also put in the hi res npc patch. Anyone know why my cut scenes to the beginning arent playing, game play is a touch laggy, should i do one last reinstall and then go through the patching one by one all over again to assure its not the old files causin the issue? Thoughts?

System Specs:

Win Vista 64 Ultimate

2.22 AMD Athlon 64

2.0 gig ram

GeForce 9800 Pro 512 ram

download and install the original 1.02 patch for FF7.

Download this

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8306.msg106986#msg106986

Put the ff7_opengl.cfg on the desktop, open it with notepad and under the resolution options set it to 1280x960 (same as hi res patch) put that and all other files other then the registry files from the zip into the FF7 directory (should be C:\Program Files (x86)\square soft, inc\final fantasy vii\) run the Vista64 reg file.

You can now play FF7.

If the game plays and all you see is black for the cutscenes. then change the movie file path (assuming you have them in a folder called "movies" in the ff7 directory) C:\Program Files (x86)\square soft, inc\final fantasy vii\movies\

NOTE: The slash at the end is needed.

EDIT: Also, we have the same video card :-P

It's linked to refresh rate of your monitor i believe. it's refresh rate/2 for most thats 60hz=30FPS (the speed FF7 runs at)

if it's not at 60 thats why. If you are using an LCD you don't really need it higher then 60. If it's at 60 and it's still happening. Post it as a bug in the drivers thread.

Err, FF7 does its own framelimiting in battles, and its not based on vsync. That said, you may want to play with the timer options, since those do affect FF7's framelimiter.
