Hello Qhimm forums, been lurking here since 2002 or so, decided to join today, heh.

I want to keep my characters at their initial levels, and I can't. I've tried:
-using WallMarket to make the exp needed to reach level 7 with Cloud astronomical, it didn't work.n The only thing that worked somewhat was setting Cloud's initial exp at 0, which made it so he didn't level up straight away from those two guards in the beginning. The next level exp showed in-game 'correctly', as in, it showed what I put into WallMarket, but after fighting a few battles it went back to normal and Cloud leveled up.
-using ArtMoney for the same thing, same result.
-using ArtMoney so I got 0 exp in fights. The battle results screen shows I earned 0 exp, but I still get exp anyway!

I want to get on with this challenge I've been thinking for a while, so I really need help with this : (

You could always use Hojo to make all the enemies give 0 experience.

If you check only "exp", you should be able to apply this change to all enemies quite easily

It works! But there's one slight problem.

I've just left the first reactor and I'm at the Train Graveyard, and now for some reason I'm fighting the regular Train Graveyard enemies, like Deenglows, instead of fighting more of those reactor enemies. Is this a bug with Hojo?

All in all this won't affect my challenge much since I don't need to farm Ethers from the Mono Drives, but if I needed to I'd be pretty pissed.

Hold on, aren't you supposed to fight the regular train graveyard enemies even when you go there right after the first mission?

In any case, there is a problem when using scene.bin editors (but not a bug) that leads to fights happening in the wrong places.

You have to go to file and update the kernel.bin, because there's something in the kernel.bin file that looks up the addresses of battle formations in the scene.bin file, and when you make a lot of changes to the scene.bin, they no longer point to the right places. updating the kernel.bin fixes this.

Nope. You'll either fight those machine gun things, panthers, or the Mono Drives (which drop Ethers, which at this point in the game is a real life saver, as each Ether sells for 750 gil.)
