First off, if this topic deserves to be in a different location I do apologize.

On to the topic.

Today I decided "I should go ahead and do a clean install of FF7 with all the updated patches that have came out so far", I had about 6 month old patches.

Before I uninstalled FF7 I just happened to take a few screenshots because I mentioned to have been playing FF7 at that moment on mumble and they were like "wow ports suck!" so I just couldn't resist showing off a few screens with Better looking graphics than psx version heh.

Here are the screens.

That should show you my PC has no problems running this all.

Now my problem is, I just did a clean install. Everything is running off the HD like it was before, movies included. I downloaded the latest Aali patch (not sure if people call that a patch or custom drivers or what), Installed the latest drivers, opened up the thing and switched to custom driver, it says I was ready to go, i clicked ok and opened up the settings file and edited that up to my liking and started up...

Well~ It seems that the original drivers are overriding Aali's drivers if I had to guess, It is not only jagged and all over the place but the colors are acting ...16bit? I would provide screenshots but no matter WHAT I do in the settings file it does not change anything at all, meaning I cannot get out of fullscreen (for some reason i can only take screenshots out of fullscreen).

I have tried all the settings in the settings file and found that nothing changed it at all. I have done everything to the letter and it should be working just find but it seems not to.

This may be an Aali's custom driver problem or something else but whatever it is I am stumped. I am sure that at least SOME of the Aali's custom driver is working seeing as its going fullscreen and stretching to fill the whole screen seeing as the original drivers didn't do that.

I am running Vista 64bit and none of my PC settings or graphic card settings or drivers have changed from the time I took those screenshots.

since your using vista i would advise turning off UAC since that can cause problems when editing the CFG.
Also if you could post your app.log it may shine some more light on the subject.

this might seem like a silly question but are you using 1.02 ? the problems your having sound allot like the original FF7 1.0 especially now you say there is no app.log and you have UAC disabled.

I heard somewhere that Aali's patch already gave 1.02 patch along with it but I just did a separate 1.02 patch on a clean install then I put the Aali driver over that and it is now acting like the Aali driver is finally working like its suppose to...except now I have a whole set of new problems *sigh*

well, when I run FF7 it now says "cant find FF7input", so I tried disabling the Aali driver for a bit and it loaded up just fine but with really broken graphics, that created a FF7input file so I went ahead and enabled the Aali driver again and started up, it got to the spot where it usually asks "new or continue" but it froze, I checked the APP.log and it said "cant find save00.ff7" so I disabled AGAIN and went and saved, then it still errored when i enabled and it said "cant find save01.ff7".

Pretty much I got NO idea anymore, but at least it is a start.

Duplicate your save file and rename them from save00.ff7 to save09.ff7

F'in Beautiful!  :o

Anyhow Thanks everybody for the help, this baby is running smooth and sexy as ever. I reaaally hope I can get your avalanche patch to work with Aali's new battle layout, the extra space on the bottom and the transparency made the game basically feel 2x bigger. If I could get some perfectly smooth fonts in there and some sexy menu user interface I would be 100% contempt with life right now x3.
