FF7 is overpriced
« on: 2010-07-06 20:03:37 »
Looking around, the lower prices I've seen have been from $60-$120.

I already own the Playstation version and I really want to try the stuff I see on here. I've modded a lot of other games for PC so I have somewhat of a hand in experience.

Like any other person I, of course, tried the Ultima edition. Many times. With some success, but in the end, ultimate failure. I am not here to condone the use of pirated games, I am simply looking to get my modding fix on with this game. Final Fantasy 7 is an ultimate classic, and the short supply of the PC version in circulation is really tying my hands. If anyone knows of a way to use the Playstation Disc effectively please let me know.

I have a modded PSX and an unmodded one so rewriting the contents isn't a problem. and as much as Ultima edition is pirating, the use of emulators isn't too far off. Not that I have any legal morals or anything, just pointing that out.

Is there anywhere, since qhimm doesn't alloy the illegals like muah, that I can go to talk to people about transforming the ultima or a cracked copy into a usable, moddable version.

I'm not a big PSX game modder. PC is usually more reliable and easy.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it, because I really don't have the money to burn.

So you're basically asking us how to legally pirate the game. In which case the answer is going to always be a big fat no we aren't going to help you in that manner. All I'll suggest is asking a friend if you could borrow it for awhile. What you do with it and when you return it in the meantime is up to you. BTW you won't have many friends on this board asking for pirated editions.

Thanks guys, you're the best.

Really, I understand legality issues and all. I've looked over all the forum threads about the ultima, and I understand, It's bad news. The truth is 100 bucks is a lot to throw out for a game that isn't even produced anymore, and wasn't produced very much for the computer.

But really, thanks for the threats and all, it really helps.

Is playing a backup considered legal or no?

Is playing a backup considered legal or no?

Its a grey area, iso's made from your own discs is ok, downloaded isnt. How about you not ask about any of it. Its not like we are going to know you are playing a backup.

Advice for everyone out there: If you are using morally/legally questionable software do not broadcast the fact. We really do not want to know. It is when we do know that we have to do something about it.

It's not like proclaiming on the internet that you do illegal things is ever a brilliant idea to begin with 8)

Only reason I use ISO's is I own two sets of disks and both sets make my desk drive dance across the desk. Very loud and annoying. But be sure to own the real deal cause if copyright enforcement comes knocking at your door. We're not to blame. Do not torrent the ISO's. Do not mod the ISO's(bad idea in general) etc etc. We will not show you how to make them work because you'll get a registry error if you install off of cds and play off the iso's. Etc.

I personally don't mind spending that kind of money on a game such as this plus even though you spend all that money you get added perks from buying the PC one over the Ps1 any day because of this community's determination to improve the game.

Or you could do like I did ten years ago, and get your copy free from an elderly neighbor who has already completed the game six times.

Usually she only gave me games by Humongous Entertainment. Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam, etc, so I was really surprised when she offered me FF7.

flea market my friends, still vacuum-sealed in the original plastic. Funny thing was, it actually smelled like mako energy when i first opened the box....ahh memories...for $10.

Sorry, i figured my inspirational story may inspires others to search for FF7 away from their computers. My discovery was a very happy accident.

I still have mine form back when it first came out. My dad had bought it and let me play it. I think it was the second computer game I ever played. First was Duke Nukem (My dad was cool then).

Edit: Oh lookit that, my 100th post. Coolio

May have something to do with me disappearing for most of 2007-2009. Had I been active during that time, I'd have you beat for sure.

For how much of those years? Because my calculations say that you've been absent for half of the time since you signed up, so you'd still be behind me :P

Why? Because yours is bigger? You're a year too early to be saying things like that ;D

I have no need for post count e-penis. I would have figured that you would have figured that secret out by now.
