adding extra weapon models to characters

found a way to kind of add weapons to characters that use less than 16. every character has 16 spots for weapons even if they dont use them. if you put a model in these spots nothing will happen because there isnt a weapon to associate with this model. but if you change the kernel to allow a weapon to equip to that character it will pull its model.

i can make the ultima weapon equippable by cidand have a unique model
make a model for cid and put it in the 16th spot
edit the kernel to allow cid to equip the ultima weapon
then in game ultima weapon can be equipped by cid and pulls cids 16th model.

so basically adding a weapon to his list. idk if its possible to replace an item and create a new weapon but the stuff above is tested and works. it will use ultima weapons damage formula

There are some limitations to adding weapons. Yes, you can make new models for every character and fill their currently unused weapon model slots. But the KERNEL.BIN is the bottle neck for a project of that sort. There is only enough room for 128 entries of weapons. That includes Sephiroth's weapon. So that's 127 weapons to have between 9 characters. If all 9 characters had their full 16 weapons then that'd be 144 unique weapons. It wouldn't be a bad idea to combine some of the similar weapons like the crystal weapons and the double growth weapons, but any combined weapons would all have to have the same name (eg. If Ultima Weapon were equippable by Cid it would still be named Ultima Weapon).
There are too many places in the game that limit how many weapons there are to expand the list to include an additional number of unique weapons. You're stuck with no more than 128.

U edit the curent weapons u have to be equippable by multiple characters. Same weapon but unique model.

I understand that, but know that any "multiple equip weapons" you create will all have the same name and stats for each character.

yes it is limiting but it still allows 16 models per character. if a name fits for a character and the player doesnt mind the damage formula. it works out. im not saying this is a godly find. im simply saying its possible to expand a bit.  these characters have less than 16 weapons and here are the weapons that pull their model from spots than can be used for them.

16 ultima weapon, premium heart, missing score
