Please Help!!
« on: 2014-07-05 06:50:04 »
I have been trying to get this going all week. Got it on steam, not sure if that matters.

Have reinstalled several times, still having issues. Game lags during battles when anybody attacks and after the last install it hangs from time to time just walking around. Changed a few settings and also had a crash.

Here is my APP.log, I'm not sure how to post the crash.dmp or I would. Forgive my ignorance. Any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

Don't install the game in a system folder such as 'My Documents', 'Program Files' or the Desktop. I suggest uninstalling and re-installing in a folder that you created (such as C:\Games for instance).

Your graphics card is very weak and without any dedicated memory, so expect lag and crashes.

The 1280x960 window resolution might be slowing it down. I usually run the default game windowed at 640x480, or full screen at the same resolution from Intel HD Graphics (which is apparently equivalent to the card you have installed there). That said, my PC is a desktop with an i3 Quad which I think picks up the slack; an older netbook would maybe struggle a little.

Ok, so basically I need a new rig. Oh well, i would try my desktop but it is lots older. Breaks my heart. I have loved this game since I first played it back in the late nineties. In fact I still have my ps1 version but was really exited to play with the updated mods. lol, I even have ff1 on nes and a nes that still works, and all the ps1 versions from ff1 to ff9. I will try these suggestions and just run bare bones until I get a new rig. Thanks for all the mods and info, you guys are awesome, make an old man happy  :) ;D

I had a lot weaker notebook once and could play the game pretty well, you should avoid big texture packs because your graphic card hasn't its own memory. I would say you should mod the game manual. Test first the game unmoded with Aali's latest driver, then with the Reunion and Anxious Heart, after that Omzy's Facepalmer texture pack. I think that should be a good basic.

I never could get a full download of Omzy's, 3 or 4 hours hours and get right to the end and it would error out.

But I have noticed that this steam version, the graphics alone are much better looking the the PS1, you can see much more detail and everything looks crisp. I didn't even play it any before trying the mods. The game runs great with no mods so probably I was trying to do a bit too much. Actually I wouldn't mind just playing with the updated character models and that's all. I will tinker around with it some more. Thanks again!  :)

Just a nice tip.  When downloading a big file, use a download manager that will cache the file for you that way if there is an error you can pick up where you left off.  Feel bad for you though I downloaded it in like 5 minutes :P
