Final Fantasy 7 (7th Heaven Mod won't apply)
« on: 2016-09-13 06:28:49 »
Hi. I apologize if this counts as posting twice since I posted something similar in the 7th Heaven thread, however that thread seemed abandoned. If anyone could help resolve my issue I'd be more than grateful.

Final Fantasy 7 Version: Steam

I have done the following things to uninstall the game and ensure that there would be no issues when reinstalling it.

1. I deleted Local Content of FF7 on Steam. After, I deleted the Final Fantasy 7 folder in steamapps.

2. I ran FF7 Remove Keys and it removed all of the registry keys for FF7.

3. I ran CCleaner.

This is where we'll start for the installation.

1. I installed Final Fantasy 7 via steam. (I kept the directory to their default. I already have my C: drive named FF7DISC1. I tried the method with Deamon Tools but that didn't do much better)

2. I ran FF7_GameConverter as admin (I even have "Run this program as Administrator") and used the following directory.

Directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII

Answered Y to Copy game files over to (Directory^) and chose C drive. Tested sound and MIDI. Both worked. Said No to keyboard patch. Finished step 2.

3. I downloaded Aali's Drivers. I unzipped the files into the FF7 folder and made a music folder for the music files. Then I installed ff7_opengl.reg and unzipped Aali's stuff into a a folder called "Textures" that I made and put into the mods folder.

4. I made a folder in the mods folder called 7th Heaven and unzipped all of the 7th Heaven Mod files into said folder. As I did with everything else, I set it to "Admin automatically".

5. I started 7th Heaven and said yes to the questions. The paths are as follows

Library Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\7th Heaven

FF7 EXE: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\ff7_en.exe

Aali Modpath: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\Textures

Movie Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\data\movies

Both "Automatically import mods in library folders" and "Check for updates to 7th Heaven automatically" are checked. Everything else is unchecked.

Subsciptions: iros://Url/http$pastebin.com/raw.php?i=dDBkYkDu

Extra Folders: music
direct

6. Went to Catalog and downloaded everything I wanted to download. (Excluding certain files that require me to name the EXE or files that I didn't really want). Had to cancel some of the downloads, which allowed the download to process for some reason.

7. I went into Library and activated all of the files.

8. I went into OpenGL Driver Config. I checked Full Screen. I went to Rendering and had my Texture Memory set to 768. I left the Audio plugins as normal since I didn't download any.

9. I organized the folders from how it was specified in the Tifa's Final Heaven guide. The following is an image of what I did just now.

10. I configured the settings to the mods.

11. I booted the game. The end result? The game boots up and the mods don't work. What did I do wrong?

The only issue I see is that everything is in Program Files (x86). Try going through the uninstall process again, and then while reinstalling give the game its own folder at the top level of C:\. Something like C:\FFVII or even on another hard disk entirely. 7th Heaven doesn't play nice when the game files are in a system folder. Also make sure you run 7th Heaven as administrator every time you start it.

2 days is not abandonment. I answered in the first post, so head back over there. Locking this one.
