hi guys,

well, ff7 is my fave game of all time, but think, think if u could do it all over again, but with your friends.

think of this,
you create your character, you see the train running along the lines in midgar,( like in the first cut scene ) and get off the train, but to be in a real living midgar, where u can make new friends, create a group with your friends and battle it out vs monsters and other players alike, lvl up with your friends, catch a train/boat in "real time" adventure thru all the sectors, go on a quest for new materia, train a choco and go to the races, chat with people in a pub, join a guild and battle for the shinra building, guilds fighting for the control of midgar sounds good no? go on a quest for riches, and power.

sounds good uh? but very dificult to create this dream?

well im looking to get a project team together, im hoping to go to uni and study computer programing so i can create these games ^_^ so, i would like to learn and improve my skills, i would like to know your opinions of this idea.

That's a very difficult task you've set yourself there! And I doubt there will be many interest from these boards to help you. Those with the knowledge to help you will be involved in the FFVII Remake Project so wont have the time.

Final fantasy VII isn't everquest you marxist motherfucker. It could almost be a good idea, but that game really can't turn online. Play FFonline (11) if you want some final fantasy action online. Online RPG's can just lick my....I'll let you decide what I say next.

It won't work to follow the story, anyways. here's what I would hear someone say:

"I have a level 76 Cloud and I can take on two ruby weapons at a time because I screwed my friends into giving me good items"

MMORPGs are a pain in the ass to make. Not only will you have to worry about getting it to work, but you will have to make constant (everyday almost) changes and bug fixes. Not only that, but you need to also make it as secure as possible, and making code unexploitable is a tough job to do, you get lost while going through 1 Million lines of code. Then there is the server maintance, and the constant DoS attacks or brute force hacking.

Then also, you need to expand it, cuz then you'll lose customers because they will get bored with the same old thing. Expanding it will mean you have to code more, have more bugs, have more people abusing it, then people who abuse it will have an advantage over those who don't abuse it, and it becomes a real mess. Play an MMORPG first and you'll see how tough it is. This may not happen much in countries like in Korea or Japan, because people play by the rules and don't try to exploit bugs. Here in the U.S. is a different subject, most people that have been rude and jerks were people from the U.S.

Versions of the MMORPG that are in Korea and Japan don't have constant hack attacks as the version for the U.S. It really makes you wonder if the american culture is really rotten (No offense to people that live in the U.S., but it's frankly the truth)

Well you could do well with a degree in Computer Science but you need to be good at various fields. Programming, graphics programming, networking, database, and so on. You'd need to be really knowledgeable in those fields.

You also need a group of dedicated programmers.... you'll need dedicated servers (Tell me how the hell are you going to get so much money for those), etc.

I know there are a lot of good programmers here in Qhimm's board alone, but hell.. I don't really think they'll be bothered with this project anyway....

Can't you just leave ff7 alone..... rather than transforming it into a junk.

heh.... as a matter of fact i play everquest.... there are defintely a LOT of patches (maybe once or more a week) and it has a bunch of expansions that are steadily streaming out (i can't keep up with it... so i'm missing two) and sadly yes, people do try to con other people out of their money and items. there isn't any way to really hack or cheat, (since progammers are always checking for that), but they CAN and WILL try to get your stuff

eeewww, Evercrap, I don't like Everquest, first of all the first person all 3D type of MMORPG isn't so appealing to me, second, staff that develop Everquest are elitist assholes, they think they're the shit (the good term of shit). I play Ragnarok Online, it's a sweet game, with anime 2D sprites in a 3D environment. Unfortunately, I can't say much good of it either, because it's having lots of problems with bugs (still on closed beta), and the community is filled with jerks, let alone it's constantly being attacked by ebil script kiddies. Hopefully it will get better, I've been playing it for about a year now, so it's kinda hard to leave the game and the community.

MMORPGs are highly addictive, and can consume you to the very end if you take it too seriously.

..and that's a super reason why online RPG's can suck my...I'll leave what I say next up to you. MY experience with those games is that greed is spawned. When I used to play d2exp online, people would screw each other over like it was a bodily function.

Dude that was like his first post here and you just tore him up somethin royal.. that was pretty rude man.. actually both of you were pretty rude.. you could have an opinion about something without ripping someone a new asshole over it.. Yeah i agree.. people are too greedy in general.. Diablo was fun until people started cheating.. and yeah then i stopped.. the online rpg scene sucks.. but still damn.. you didnt have to be that harsh about it..
