Hello everyone,

I recently discovered the world of modded Final Fantasy IX with Memoria on Steam and I’m absolutely loving it. I’ve been using Moguri Mod and Kupo Mail to enhance the graphics and overall experience of a game I cherished as a kid.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon Hades Workshop (huge thanks to Tirlititi for creating such a powerful tool!) and decided to give it a try. However, I must admit I’m completely new to this kind of tool and I have zero background in coding or scripting, so I’m getting a bit lost.

My ultimate goal would be to make the spells Ultima and Flare Star (the ones Kuja uses) available to Vivi:
   •   Ideally as learnable abilities via his ultimate weapon (Mace of Zeus)
   •   Or simply added to his spell list

I read that Ultima is used as an end fight spell and might cause issues when used by a player character (preventing return to fight after animation). Is there a known workaround for this?

So my questions are:
   1.   Is this mod concept technically feasible with Hades Workshop?
   2.   If yes, could someone please guide me step-by-step (or even share a .hws patch I can load)?
   3.   What’s the best way to “borrow” enemy-only spells like Flare Star or Ultima and make them safe to use in normal battles?

Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can help a lost soul here 😅
I’d really appreciate your time and any tips you can share.

Best,
Vincent

Hello. The problem with Ultima not being suitable because it's meant to end the fight is not a problem anymore in the Steam version, at least for "Ultima-Pandemonium". The workaround has been integrated inside Memoria itself.

So:
1. Yes.

2. You simply need to use the effect you want ("[Ultima-Pandemonium]" or "Flare Star") for a spell's special effect. The best is to create a new spell (tab "Party -> Spells") by right-clicking on a standard black magic and use "Add": it will create a new spell using your selection as a basis. And then simply change its name and visual effect (you need to enable "Show all effects" or something like that for Ultima) and possibly the spell's stats. Then, you need to add that spell to a command (tab "Party -> Commands") so it can be accessed in battle by a character (add it to "Blk Mgc" for example if you want Vivi to use it). Then you may want to add that spell to the list of spells that a character can learn (tab "Party -> Stats"), with a certain amount of AP. If you do that, you also need to add the spell to one or multiple equipments (tab "Inventory -> Items -> Regular Items"). And then you're good.

3. There is no real way to do that as enemy spells are kind of different from party spells. You'll notice for example that many spells used by enemies have different stats compared to the version the party uses.
