Cheers for the strategies guys. But going back to my first post:

I am spotting two suspect things. 1 - The red circle button (of the controller) looks weird whenever it is shown (like during a tutorial) and 2 - transparent textures don't seem to be totally transparent. Like, when meteor is in the sky on the world map you can see a box around it, and magic effects in battle too. Are these things glitches?

Can any Playstation owners see these things when they play FF7? I’m particularly interested in the boxes seen around transparent sprites because that is not seen in the PC version and seems like a glitch for sure. Thanks.

P.S. sorry about the spoilers, shall I edit my messages and put spoiler tags in? Some of you will probably need to do that too.

Well it's been years since i owned a PS and FF7, also got rid of my PS2 about 8 months ago :( and seriously regretting it now.

As i said it's been years since i played it on ps but i never noticed any glitches or gfx problems in the 6 or so times i went through and completed the game.

Thanks Chesso. I guess most people don't have a Playstation anymore to compare it to how it looks on the PS2. I'm going to take your word for it, so there are glitches.   Bit annoyed with Sony for that.

I remember the box glitches on ff7 playstation.

I used to laugh at the 'inferior' graphics of the ps version compared to the pc as you could see boxes round things. Pity they had the better sound, and didn't have to suffer the upside down movies of the voodoo 2 sli.

That's real helpful. Thanks M0T!  8)

Wow did you have a dodgy ps or something? unless your'e talking about a ps2 cause i never had these problems and nor anyone else i knew at the time who played it.

I can't say the ps2 doesn't have any problems with ps games but the ones i did play on it seemed fine.

I don't remember any box glitches on the PS1, but it's common with PS1 games on the PS2 to have slightly intransparent sections/boxes around sprites with transparency.

Do you think you would have noticed tinted sprites back when you had your PS1? Has it been a long time? If you were less technical at the time and didn't know what a sprite was, then you probably wouldn't have spotted it.

If any current PS1 owners want to investigate, summon Ramuh in FF7 and check out his lightning. If you see a tint surrounding the lightning bolts, that means FF7 works properly on the PS2.

I tried looking at PS1 screenshots of Ramuh on the internet but I did not find any good shots. This one is too small and is against a night sky so it is hard to see if there is a tint or not.
