I was just wondering who you guys think would win if they were fighting each other; Sephiroth or Kefka.  I am personally a fan of Kefka and think he would win.  I just wanted your opinions.

I cannot believe that you are really asking that. :(

Sephiroth.

Because Kefka=wuss, and Sephiroth+18-foot-long-sword=DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. look at the number of people who viewed your topic but didn't respond.  Each of them thinks Sephiroth would whup the little weakling known as Kefka but doesn't want to waste time posting it.

That said... Kefka did pretty much have the powers of a God, whereas that is the power that Seph was striving to attain.

In you were to take boss difficulty into account then Seph would probs lose...

I can't really decide myself... I think they are both awesome hardass badguys.

um i only know about one of them
That could be the case for other members too
boss hardness=nothing _it depends mainly on the strength of the chalengers (sp)_

Sephiroth would definitly rock Kefka's world!  Kefka would not even stand a chance.

Depends on where in the game you pulled Kefka from. If you drew him from the "ok" world, Kefka would die a flaming death. Drew him from the world reshaped into his own image, well, Kefka has the power to SMITE AT WILL. It would be a tough match on both sides.

What if Kefka uses Knights of Round on Jenova•Synthesis before getting to Sephiroth?

What if Sephiroth summons Meteor before facing Kefka?

In the middle of their intense battle, Sephiroth will suddenly smile and look at something behind Kefka, which Kefka will turn around to look at, and find out that it is a meteor the size of a planet, about to consume the world, and kill him, unless he just dies from fright by looking at his inevitable demise!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Well, Sephiroth IS Jenova . . . but then again, Kefka CAN smite things dead at will, as Contra pointed out.  It'd be a tough battle to call.

I happen to know that Kefka is a coward.  If Sephiroth were to fight Kefka, Kefka would run away and Sephiroth would have to hunt him down.

P.S.  Sephiroth has a huge HP advantage over Kefka! (knight of the round times a million anyone?)

You can't really compare stuff like that really well. Me and my brother had an argument one time that consisted of Jafar (from FE) and An assasin from FFTA. Jafar only had 40 HP so the Assassin would win right? No, we had to start making proportions btween strength and HP to see who would win. In this case Jafar won. Gay. However, Sephiroth is cooler so he would win in this case. Also Sephiroth does not have a fruity evil laugh every time his plan is working ;)

Next you'll be telling me Sephiroth really earned those medals.

I have to agree with RPGillespie, because the question is far more complex then it seams. That said...

-- Spoiler Alert --

A literal comparison isn't fair. Kefka is human while Septh isn't. So, to be fair, the only real comparison that can be made was when they were at their peak villainous power.

Pt. 0 - Fan Clubs
Both had their own fan-clubs, where they would drudge around and say their name. (Ha, I just thought this was funny!)
Result - Evenly Matched

Pt. 1 - Allies
Kefka had his "bean-stalk of mutants" just like Septh (putting the story aside) had the Jevona-z. So, no real difference there.
Result - Evenly Matched

Pt. 2 - Cruelty
Kefka took perverse pleasure in other people's suffering. Septh just didn't care and simply wanted everybody gone.
Result - Kefka is -sick-.

Pt. 3 - Mental Stability
Kefka was a complete psyco, never calm, and had no real purpose outside of his own ego. Septh was also a psyco, but he was calm and had a specific purpose.
Result - Kefka had no purpose for his acts.

Pt. 4 - God-Like Power
Kefka has his Judgment of Light (i think) which acted more like a scalpel. It was very quick and annihilated anything in it's path. Septh had his Meteor spell, which was very obvious and slow. The only advantage was that it --would-- break up the planet.
Result - Kefka has the faster "your gonn’a die now" attack.

Pt. 5 - God-Like State
Kefka had retched a god-like state. Septh needed to destroy the planet before he could reach that level.
Result - Only Kefka had reached a God-Like state.

Physical Build?
When your a Demi-God, does this 'really' matter?

Battle Magic?
For differences in stats and such, I'm not bothering with this.

Well, I'm surprised! I thought it was an even match, perhaps I missed something? IMHO, Septh is a better character and obviously looks much cooler. But... Kefka is the better villain because he is "faster" and a "sick psycho".

Hmm...you guys have all brought up valid points to the arguement, but you forgot Kefka's one attack that will bring the target down to 1HP no matter what that targets max hit points are. That attack is known as "Fallen One". Then if Kefka can just muster to stay alive for 1 or maybe 2 attacks he should than be able to take Sephiroth down. I havn't played the final battle of FFVII in a while, but I don't remember sephiroth having a similar attack.

Also, You can't just say that Sephiroth could just summon meteor and it's all over, as you can see for yourself how long it takes for that damned meteor to actually fall outta the sky.

I agree with RGPillespie as well. Every time I play through Final Fantasy VII, I never really get the sense that Sephiroth is just pure evil. You don't really ever see him taking pleasure in the killings that he commits, and the killings that he does commit seem more for an actual cause. Where as Kefka was just evil to the core. Destroyed whole towns just because he felt like it.

Personally though, I think a more evened match for say Sephiroth or Kefka might be Zeromus in his "True" form. That Big Bang attack really did pack a punch, and it also took 5 party members to bring him down in relation to 4 or 3 party members... Just my opinion.

You're seriously debating this?

Kefka- without a doubt.

Sephiroth, despite Super Nova and Meteor, is only human. Kefka reaches the status of a god.

Kefka would not bother with Knights of the Round. He would smite Sephiroth unto oblivion.

Look at FF6- for all intents and purposes, Kefka actually WINS. He destroys the world, for goodness sake!

Sephiroth loses.

Kefka did eventually get defeated, as did Sephiroth.  I think it just took a little longer for Kefka to be defeated because no one caught on to him fast enough.  Still, despite all this I find it difficult to believe Kefka would win.  His "god" status is irrelivant, since, as I said, he was eventually defeated.

You know what? I forgot how hard kefka really is just GETTING to him is mext to impossible: 2 Legendary Dragons, Atmaweapon (again) and the 3 FREAKIN STATUES just to get to Kefka. Then even in the final battle oyu have to kill the 3-story pillar, each level getting harder than the next. THEN kefka comes down and almost immediatly casts 'fallen one' Oh my gosh, even though you can use 13 characters, you would have had to had trained all of them to at least level 60, and make sure everyone has good espers.  FF6 is definatly way, way, WAY harder than I remember. In terms of gameplay hardness, Kefka wins in a landslide.  FF7 remindsme a lot of mario RPG - is pretty hard but you can win without going to train your people like you had to in FF6. FF6 is the hardest Final Fantasy I've ever played I just beat it and Kefka's tower was so hard!

I didn't spend any real time leveling my characters in FFVI. And I never really had any major problems.

Of course, my opinion is that if you have to spend half of your gameplay hours running in circles fighting battles, it's a gameplay flaw.
