[request] speed up the fades
« on: 2007-08-03 19:08:53 »
Hello to everyone.
I have an idea that might prove not that hard to complete if you know what you're doing.

Every time you move to a new 'screen', there is a fade to black, and then a new fade from black to the normal (new) screen. Can someone make a patch (preferably one that doesn't alter the main exe) that speeds up the fades, or disables them altogether?

I think they are needed to load the new level and unload the old one.

I'm not sure about that in all areas. On my last playthrough I had no fades at the very end of disc 1 in the city of the ancients, and the next screens loaded perfectly.
They might lag a bit in some areas; I'm sure you're right about that. I still think it could be done as a patch.

Ins hort it depends how fast your computer is slow computer=long fades fast computer=no fades, I don't have any fades on my new comp because it's fast so I doubt you will be able to speed them up unless you have a newer computer.

I don't believe that's true. I used to play ff7 with my pentium 2, and now I'm playing with a new computer. The fades are as long even though I have almost 10 times as much power.
Besides, the thing I got in the city of the Ancients suggests to me that it could be done again. That's why I see it as a possibility for a patch.
